Quite possibly the best opening scene in a South Park Video game. South Park Snow Day is the newest game in the South Park New Kid storyline. It is hilarious and beautiful in so many different ways. I've said this a million times by now, but South Park REALLY gets how kids really act. Doesn't matter how miserably cold and treacherously icy it is outside, no matter how much of a disaster it is for the adults, DAMMIT, you get a day off from school! Let the home owners dig their walkways out and break their backs! This will be a day of fun that we don't care that we have to make up in the summer heat. We were all Cartman here at some point.

When we were kids we once got a hail storm and tornado and it was the best, the adults were all upset because everything had been knocked over and got holes in it, but so to did the school busses so we had no school and had a 4 day weekend. And we had baseball sized hail stones in our freezers which some of us kept for many years after as souvenirs. Now as an adult I can't imagine having to love through that again.

Where I'm from, they're not allowed to close schools even if it's super cold and snowy. Because they don't want to risk any kid's lives just in case a kid gets dropped off at school, only to find out the school is locked, and they are stuck outside in the cold. So, for the safety of the kids, schools are always open. I still remember one day it was really cold. I showed up to work, I had to cover for two different people's shifts because barely anyone showed up and I was the last person to leave. I was so worried my car wouldn't start but I got myself out of there. I was 100% sure in this video, the weather reporter would just come back and say, "Oh yeah, schools are not closed". Because damn, that would be more realistic.

I remember snow days in the winters of 1977 and 1978. Sometimes for two or three days a week - and in those days we didn't have to make up one minute of it! I should also point out that we lived in town, and I don't think we ever once lost electric due to a winter storm. In the late 1970s New York City had several snow days while I was in elementary school. I had a 30-plus year career as a New York City public school teacher and retired 6 years ago. I remember for the first time in ages earlier in my career schools were closed during the snowstorm. The Joy on children's faces at this was precious. I also enjoyed it. However, after covid New York City ended all snow days so they can meet the 180 day standard for New York State. The think children from now on will never have the experience of waiting with bated breath for official word of school cancellation is so sad. All I can say is my great nephew we'll get rewarded with the snow day at his parents discretion during a snowstorm. No online school for him on that special future occasion. Considering how ineffective online learning has been shown for instructing elementary age students that is quite a logical decision.

I think the transition from South Park's TV-style graphics to the 3D graphics in this game works out pretty well. It makes me wonder if South Park will one day use 3D graphics like the intro has teased for years now. I mean I'm sure they won't because of the time it takes to render 3D graphics and how they tend to make an episode in just 7 days just fine with their standard format.

Weather conditions would be similar and our school wouldn't close. All the schools in the area would be closed and ours held out til the bitter end before finally caving in for a snow day. May have had 2-4 snow days over the school years. It was glorious when it happened.

How that went from 2D to 3D was really well done. Start with 2D character, then just focus on the setting and then pan back to suddenly 3D character.

This reminds me of this winter storm that happened here in Oregon this last January but with freezing rain that turned into solid ice. It caused massive blackouts that lasted up to a month due to tree branches and power lines breaking and falling. It was horrible.

I spent a couple years at a high school in Houston. There was a threat of cold weather, so they called a preemptive snow day. It turned out to be about 60 degrees, and my friends and I spent the day at the beach.

Don't get me wrong, it's dangerous to be out driving in a snowstorm and people do die , but it's not the Apocalypse by any means and each time there's an inch of snow the media fear-pornstars make it the biggest deal with "Fox News Alerts" and other "BREAKING NEWS" as if Pearl Harbor was attacked again.

I live 45 minutes from Park county. I grew up in Tennessee. I'm always shocked when we actually get a full snow day. Usually it's just a late start. In the south they cancel schools if the forecast says they "might" get snow. (And yes, I understand that the south doesn't have a lot of snow removal equipment, I'm talking about the threat of snow, not actual snow)
