This is the first introduction to Kenny as Mysterion. It was something to calm his sister and protect her. It also sets the tone for his superhero character when they start fleshing them out throughout the series & game. Kenny is truly a great brother. You gotta love those Yo Momma jokes and Cartman being the next poor kid & that Cartmans plan backfires after setting her up.

This is absolutely not the first episode with Kenny as mysterion lmao. This is like the 4th one. Mysterion was introduced in season 13 episode 2 “the coon”, and was revealed to be kenny in season 14 episode 12 “mysterion rises.” This episode is from season 15 🤦‍♂️

Episodes like this are what separates South Park from the countless imitators that have come and gone over the last 25 years. South Park is a comedy first of course, but it's not afraid to ditch the comedy and show some real emotion when the story calls for it. Mysterion comforting Karen was treated with the emotional weight it deserves by Matt and Trey, whereas if this were something like American Dad or Family Guy he would have farted in her face or flushed her down a toilet or something.

It's been years since I read about it, but there was this childrens hospital ward that repainted its walls. Most if not all of it was clown related, and 100 out of 100 of the kid patients asked about if they liked the new clown decoration on the walls, said "no". And this was for any kid up to age 14.
