As I had watched the kiosk Video first I saw the Bridge Complete and in Position, but this video of the making of the Bridge and the mods you carried out is brilliant. It is so handy to have some of that evergreen plastic. I really need to get some. I have just spent 3 days restoring a 3D printed Signal Box which a friend made for me, but it did not print very well and in removing the all the supporting strings I completely lost all of the windows. Then I had problems with the paint that I used and ended up stripping it all off and started again. I did fit LEDs in the top and bottom and mounted the box on a base and then tested the LEDs and found I had wired them the wrong way round. I was not going back to the start as it would have caused a bigger problem. So I cut the wires off. I wanted to save it because it was the first item he had printed. Marks out of 10? 8. Martin. Blimey - first comment! Not bad after all that catching up. I always feel I'm nearly home as I climb the steps at my local station, usually after a day out in town, so it's often well after midnight. Or it was, not many trips recently! Both have similarly long flights but in a zig then a zag, if you see what I mean. Then it's just a six minute walk home. Hurrah, happy days… Another great build, looking forward to seeing it fully in place, presumably with that kiosk at the bottom! Keep well, be kind.

So, Special Constable Adam here has tried to recolour some black and white photos of the footbridge to find out what colour it was. And during my enquires I even found some colour photos! However, it is too dark to see the actual paint in all of the colour photos and it looks black (the shade of blue on the pillars along the platform in a picture with a BR DMU in the station looked a dark shade of blue, so that’s maybe why the bridge looked black as it may have been dark blue in later years?) And in all of the recoloured photos the bridge appears brown. So maybe it was red in earlier days? Either way, it’s given me something to do for an hour. Pity no one knows for sure and I couldn’t with it out for you! 👍🏻
@TONYNORTHEASTERN4 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam. thank you for doing the research. but like you have said in the comment. the bridge would have been many colours through out its life time. i have recently found a painting the artist has painted the bridge a dark green, and in the picture is the old EMU in dark blue and cream, which i think maybe its wrong as the emu were red and cream. this little investigation will be mentioned in the next video. as it is an interesting subject. just that world war one footage re-coloured last year...thank you for taking the time to comment and the info....stay safe regards Tony

Well done! I really like the two car green train set and would like to find it and buy it. Who's the manufacturer and what class is it and were you just running two cars say versus four, or is it a two car set? I want to expand my OO-gauge fleet, and that particular set reminds me of the subway cars in the NYC subway system. Thanks!
@TONYNORTHEASTERN4 жыл бұрын
Sure Mark, the EMU is made by Bachmann and its a class 417 in BR green. they only produce as a 2 car set at the moment. you can buy from most model railway stores. but with the lock down you may have to wait a while. Hattons of liverpool are still doing deliveries. +44 151 459 1660.....best wishes Tony

@@TONYNORTHEASTERN Thank you Tony! I was just on the phone twice this week with Hatton's! I've purchased my Class 221DMU from them (pre-owned) and OO-guage vehicles. The bridge looks great, but cutting out the platform on one side was a mistake. In one of Edward Beal’s books “New Developments in Railway Modelling” from 1947, he said “...in the matter of footbridge design there are few indeed who are aware of the inflexible civil engineering rules which govern the matter. This is probably why we see so many models of bridge stairways about 20 feet long without a break at the centre; and few things look less convincing.” “...if the height is over 10 feet there must be a midway landing or break in the ascent. This is not merely provided to rest the limbs of climbers, but necessary for public safety in the case of a sudden hustled crowd.” But if you aren’t interested in realism I wouldn’t change what you’ve built. Cheers
@TONYNORTHEASTERN4 жыл бұрын
Well John, what an interesting comment, i wish i new about this at the start, hindsight is a wonderful thing. i think its a bit late to change the bridge as it would mean getting a new kit. but your input is valuable for future projects. many thanks Tony
