The Lawe is the oldest part of South Shields in the North East of England where the local's are known as Skuetenders. But what is a Skuetender ?

My wife was born on the Lawe top and christened in St.Stephens ( the chuggy she used to call it ).We married there in 1972 and our wedding was blessed with the appearance of the Tyne Pilots Whale Choir.

Great to see, I lived beside the Beacon pub. There's nowhere as lovely to live as The Lawe Top. Lovely to see these familiar faces and places I love.

A great video and brings back memories of my family who lived on Hedley Street and then later I lived in Julian Street. Shame the Beacon is gone now!
