Duncan Stephenson took me and my dad on the foy boats when I was a kid. He even let me steer the boat a few times. Fond memories...

What a video Gary!!.. brought back so many memories for me.. I used to run to the Groyne from my school at Baring Street, to watch the ships going out, that had been launched.. and usually my dads tug the “ Maximus” was pulling them out.. “Thank you Gary”.. for showing it all to me again.. what a history that little area has..

Great video with an excellent soundtrack and superb camera work. I left Shields in 1978 when I was 22, but as I grew up on the Lawe Top I remember it well. Thanks for your efforts.

I came across these social history videos last weekend and I’ve enjoyed watching them all. Well made and a great insight to days gone by. I left Shields and a job in Swan Hunters in 78, but watching these I’m thinking of coming back! Can I ask if anymore planned?
