South Shore Double Track Completion | Economic Outlook

Last year, the South Shore line of the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District embarked on the largest projects they’ve undertaken in more than a century. The West Lake Corridor and the Double Track projects is complete. Jeff sits down with the South Shore leadership, and George is out at the train station for some important updates.

I need connections to the U of Chicago Medical Center, the Museum Campus, the airports and other large centers, like VA, specialized hospitals, Specialized shopping etc. Downtown Michigan City is devastated. Portage has no public transportation. And, it sure could be helpful to use the trains to get to Mital steel, U.S. Steel and other big factories along the entire line.

We need better connections from Millennium to O'hare and Midway. Hauling luggage from Millennium to the Orange Line is fraught with danger and obstacles.

Bring back Amtrak's Hoosier State.

It's too bad the NORTH SHORE LINE couldn't have been saved. There was no transit funding in the 1960s and 1950s.
