great video as always! but why Anyanya 2 and SPLA where rivals?
@the_borys3 ай бұрын
Its not that simple, the organization was divded and some faction merged into SPLA, and some became allies of Sudanese government

Man it's just getting worse and worse By the way, will you ever produce videomapping these modern conflicts in the style of tigerstar and hurricane hunter, in regards to presenting daily changes animations?
@__-rt5tm3 ай бұрын
A country that is underdeveloped as south Sudan has VERY little information coming out of it or any that is documented in detailed therefore its impossible to make a daily change video

Wow, I was under the impression that aside from the main two groups, only the Kitwang faction still existed. Great video! One small note but the Al-Fashaga dispute is missing on the border with Sudan and Ethiopia.

I don't think Al-Fashaga is actually on my main frame? Anyway it isn't relevant to the video

my first impression about the video was very good but after comparing this to already exsisting videos from hurricane hunter i noticet big diffrences between the two videos and i mean really big diffrences and i dont understand how this can be first the time until 1990 in your viedo and hurricane hunters second sudanese civil war do not even look similar wich is weird i did not have time to now to compare the rest of the videos till now but i dont understande this because you are both good mappers how can this be so diffrent

I didnt watch the HH's video, but I have research document linked in the description with timeline
@arnarchisticantarktikaferd57563 ай бұрын
the video about the second sudanese civil war from HH is already four years old and your video is more detailed however it misses the muraleheen uspring wich is shown in HHs video the only source that HH mentioned in his script is wikipedia also your and HHs text documents are compleatly diffrent (from wath i have read so far) for example : borys "by the end of 1984 the SPLA endet the ayana nya II as a significant force " HH "ayana nya II blocks expansion of the SPLA between 1984 and 1987 " but the videos get more similar over time i would say i watcched the beggining of HHs crisis in sudan 2009 to 2013 i can already say you have a compleatly diffrent idea of wath extension tthe LRA has i think you should watch the videos from HH it really is a big diffrence i have no time to look more into this also i believe that you both made the best out of the sources you have the diffrence is just really surprising @@the_borys

@@arnarchisticantarktikaferd5756 As for LRA, HH tends to overshow their presence, as including all areas they attacked As for the muraleheen I didnt find any mention of them anywhere except wikipedia, this word doesnt appear anywhere
@arnarchisticantarktikaferd57563 ай бұрын
i can see that HH really overestimated the LRA however i found 2 citatitions in a wikipedia articel about the SPLA about the muraleheen leading to this source : books.google.de/books?id=1K_5IOdPQ-sC&pg=PA153&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false for 2010 the territory of the SSDA is very diffrent in both videos also HHs video showes three factions in 2010 the ritzegat tribe the nuer tribe and gatluak gai s forces for 2011 territory of the SSDA in both videos becomes more similar however your video showed the un occupation of abey and the SSPLM-N also the JEM, HHs does not however HHs video showes two factions named lur farmers and ayuel tribesman from march to september of the year ,and i cant even explain the situation with the SSLA because it is so diffrent in both videos not much happening in 2012 but there is not a singel advance in the year that is similar in the 2 viddeos 2013 HH does not show the SSDA cobra and bevore the start of the start of the official civil war in december 2013 the situation in northeast shout sudan is way more complex in HHs video many diffrences 2014 so first the extension osf the SOLA-IO is similar but there are still diffrences most notebly HH showes the SSLA and SSDA still in 2015 andd they are named SSLM and SSDM 2015 you both show the TFNF however HH also uses the name shilluk kingdom for the TFNF , HH shows a group SSFDP in south east south sudan and a faction named SSNA in north east shuout sudan and in HHs video the arrow boys join the SPLA-IO in november 2015 2016 HHs videoshowed that the SPLA-IO captures rumbek with wath is labeld as arrow boys in your video also the following factions : SSPA and IMFLOR in north west south sudan and NDM near the TFNF while you show the SSDA cobra again wich HH does not 2017 HH shows that the TFNF joins the SPLA-IO in your video the group is now called agwelek also the SSPA apperes now in your video however is named SSPM ok this is really comlicated now HH showe s group that is named natinal salvation front it is in the exact same position as the SSOA in your video also HH showes two tribes named agouk and apuk in north west south sudan it is even more compex but i dont know how to explain other major diffrences of this year 2018 the SSOA appers in HHs vdeo uniting the SSFDP the SSPA the NSF and the national salvation front argh im sorry but i cant explain 2018 and 2019 it is to much diffrence HHs video ends in 2019 and i am going to end this comment here beause it is really long enough now @@the_borys

you should know that Hurricane Hunter has a tendency to assume things, especially in favor of rebel control. I trust Borys's research far more.

From what I gathered, the Nuer tribe constantly causes trouble in South Sudan with some minor factions like the Cobra engaging in conflicts every once in a while. Maybe if the Nuer didn't constantly keep trying to undermine the country by siding with Sudan and/or rebelling constantly, the region wouldn't be so terrible.
