Why feed cotton seed late in the year? My understanding is that it sterilizes deer.

That’s a misconception, if cottonseed is all the deer feeds on than that may happen, a wild free range deer like that browses on all kinds of brush, no sterilization at all

Cottonseed helps put the fat back on the deer after the rut when they are worn down

If you can afford it, it’s a good idea. Helps keep weight on the deer. Infertile does haven’t been an issue on all these ranches…..
