Awesome we are going on Wednesday for 4 night with our 10 yr old boy and our 2 viszla pups. We went there in 2017 so it's been awhile. Primitive camping near a cliff. Hopefully weather won't be as humid as today lol. Thanks for this!

Not sure why this vid popped up in my feed, but I’m originally from Anacoco just a few miles from the state park. I actually had a hand in making those awesome sandblasted redwood entrance signs back around 2004 when the park first opened. Most of the locals pronounce Anacoco with an ‘a’ sound at the end like you would say Coca-cola. Regardless of what you may find in some places, the word comes from the Atakapa/Ishak word l’anacoco which means muddy sands. Nice video and review. I have a ton of memories from that whole area and I haven’t been back there in a long while. Nice to see some of my old stomping grounds and that the signs are still holding up somewhat decently after almost 20 years.
