This is how the robot dogs should be used. Fantastic! Saves man/animal power. Once they can increase the load-weight; people with health issues would be able to be carried up/down mountains or awkward terrains. Looking forward to that.

If somebody takes this job, he'll miss other job opportunities. Robot's meant to help people. If you don't want such a bot for your home, than there is no need of it's purpose. So I believe, this has positive effects along with what you say. Slaving humans by humans must become history someday.

It's needed when human don't have another human to take the job, if there is a human who can do that honestly, then it's better to support the fellow Human with the jobs, it's not always about money, sometimes it's also better to think about humanity and comunity.

This is how you work.. Going from carrying that garbage yourself to walking the dog... As a security job for the dog.. progress... The future should be more like this.. simple jobs that monitor robots doing the hard work in a natural environment..

Why don't you contact the manufacturer and inform them that thos robot can also be used to carry the disable. In a similar role to the wheel chair.

Will definitely help in mountain cleanup, but not sure how well it works in more offroad path prones to weather exposure.

Eventually use for climbing Everest in few decades time? Like assist in search and rescue missions on top of carrying big luggages like oxygen tank so climbers stay alive even in death zones? A robotic horse version might even be able to carry injured climber down mountains when helicopter are out of reach?

Yup, it's a clone of Spot, but I do wonder where they have cut the corners in building it. It seems to have some trouble navigating the steps 0:57, but that's not so much of a big deal, I'm wondering how much of the terrain it's actually navigating, or it's a programmed path and the real difficulty is navigating the stairs. Spot is pretty stable too and is able to stand being kicked and correct itself and is able to run. Both those abilities would be rather pointless here, so I'm assuming those and other more advanced features and sensors were nixed.

If MIT has a real patent on this, 'm sure all Western media will be making noise by now. Most of the work was always done by Chinese scientists. Even in the 1990s, when most robotics scientists in the US were of Chinese origin. Chinese have always loved researching labor saving devices.
