Absolutely gorgeous! Great work. I think the detail sets the professionals apart, he made it look aged with the depth looking like real marble. Side note to negative Nancy's in every comment section: These are real people showing the world what they can do; helping some people that need it out of pure kindness. That being said every video will not be for everyone hense why so many videos will be alike. There are many ways to do a thing. So saying it's overworked is implying you know the result better then the artist. Which you don't. It's easy to say rude and mean things over Internet but we need to remember these are real people with real lives and real feelings. You don't know what battles a person Is fighting. Is it so hard to be kind or be quiet? I'm sorry I just had to say this.

Christ sakes!! So many “experts” thinking they can do better or they know better! This is HIS take on marble. He teaches how you can build things up with multiple layers rather than using loads of different colours. I grew up with a grandma who had a MASSIVE slab of marble sitting outside her house and it looked just like this painting does. I remember vividly as I would lie down on the slab and trace every vein it had. I thought it was the most magical and beautiful thing I had ever seen! I think you have done a wonderful job! The whole video was extremely soothing for me. The music made me totally relax and it brought back the fond memories I stated above. I have ended up watching this video on a loop about 4-5 times now and can’t get enough of the peaceful feeling I get and the amazement of how well you have done! 10 outta 10 from me! 😁💜

Thanks, learning to paint with glazes is a worthwhile challenge, @@SouthCoastStudio. I can't help thinking about all of the time it took to master blending with thick acrylics, when this is so much more fluid and the effects are beautiful. @oddfellowi4711Ай бұрын
This is brilliant. Bit obsessed with trying to get the hang of fake marble (I want to have a go at some of our skirting boards once I can produce a vaguely reasonable and consistent technique). I've watched multiple videos but keep coming back to this one. Could you please tell me if you use just ordinary emulsion? Also is it just different shades of the same colour? You seem to use 3 tones-a greyish colour, a lighter colour and then a darker colour (for the veiny bits). Is the darkest shade black or very dark brown? Apologies I am slightly colour-blind. I've only tried acrylics/acrylic glazes so far but this looks ace.
@SouthCoastStudioАй бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the comments, I usually stick to acrylic paint for these types of effects. To keep the paint from drying too quickly, I added a little acrylic scumble. I used a tiny amount of black, but mainly shades of dark brown, over a white base. Good luck with your work, take care, Simon
@oddfellowi4711Ай бұрын
@@SouthCoastStudio Hi Simon. Thanks for the reply. Hmm interesting. Your paint looks thicker/smoother than mine (perhaps it's better quality) or maybe it's the use of scumble. Do you add the scumble to each colour you use? I've never used it before. I'll get myself some and also a dark brown and continue to have a mess about (I'm nothing if not persistent!). Thanks again for the advice. Stephen.

@@SouthCoastStudio I'll keep having a go but may well have a look at your tutorials. I've seen lots of videos where people produce a reasonable marble-ish effect (arguably with fewer steps and quicker) but your stuff is on another level (what with taking the time to do the different layers and all) so it's well worth putting the time in to try and learn. Thanks again!

Juliana Graham. if your desk is a white background I would use a acrylic system 3 paynes grey mixed with original glaze scumble . Then secondly mix your paynes grey with a white matt emulsion not vinyl your a white undercoat.Thirdly you could lightly use the paynes grey by it's self so it stand's out more for a heavier finish.

When simulating marble try alcohol in a spray bottle for water based paints and naptha or lighter fluid for oil base paints it does at least half the job for you. I used to paint movie sets and for big surfaces like replicating the US Senate for Logan's run or the supreme court for first Monday in October we used homemade marble walpaper made with a rectangle container filled with water we floated oil paints on the surface with ketchup bottles pulled the rolls of paper under that water and when it came up the oil paint stuck to the top of the paper instant marble. Your work looks pretty good but I am sorry to say it would not get past any art director or decorator that I worked for . Keep at it the alcohol/naptha trick really works
