This looks fantastic. I love how it looks mouldable enough to support a properly tilted newborn pelvis. That makes such a difference to head position! We get so many parents saying their babies hate head supports and it's much nicer to provide a position whereby support to the nape of the neck avoids covering the head. Easier to see a clear airway too :-)

Fab Video! I've been looking for a good and clear video showing the new adjusters at the top of the panel that BabyBjorn have added to the new One and this mini! I love how they can be tightened to provide support around the top of the back without obscuring the face and airways - especially given this recent heat! It's a really clear demo thanks!

Great tutorial for the new mini version. Very glad to see it offers a more ergonomic pelvic position. Too bad that the brand's stiff neck support is still present, but well done on folding it to baby's nape with a newborn. The same for enabling access of babies' hands to their mouths in order to support self-soothing, sensory development and open airways. As a market leader, BabyBjorn have been taking steps to adopt a more ergonomic design. So it's very good to see the positive design changes, and hopefully more will come.

Yes it's a really nice feature definitely. When they're older you can use it to support head if they're sleeping, but it's good to have the option to properly fold it down, so there's no pressure on baby's head. The ergonomic position means their head naturally rests against the wearer

But what about head support? Should I unfold the upper part?
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. So if baby is supported ergonomically - with a gentle curve to their spine, knees higher than their bottom - their head will naturally rest against the wearer. It’s essential to ensure clear air circulation around baby’s face and that they’re held securely so they can’t slump. Positioning the top edge of the carrier to the nape of baby’s neck/baby’s ear lobes ensures clear air circulation and means there’s no pressure on baby’s head. You can tighten up the top edge of the carrier to ensure it’s snug along the top edge. If you do choose to bring the flap up behind baby’s head, ensure baby’s nose is unobstructed and that the flap is not pushing against the back of their head. As I’ve said above though, if they’re positioned ergonomically there is no need for additional head support.

I was really impressed with how small it went. The demo doll I used is a small newborn, which is often too little for a buckle carrier. It's nice that this is a carrier a parent can use from newborn, without worrying if their baby will be big enough to fit it from day one

This was a really helpful video. Thank you. It is ok to use if on a newborn that still does not have neck control? Or it is better to wait until they have gained that strength?
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings 9 ай бұрын
No, you do not need to wait until they have head/neck control. If baby is supported with a gentle curve to their spine, knees higher than bottom, and are held securely so they can't slump, their head will naturally rest against the wearer. Once baby has head control they can have their arms over the top of their carrier - see my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3-7YqiQqJtsl6ssi=y3BG0qbOErtN4qy7 . Hope that helps!

I love how easy BabyBjorn carriers are to put on, we have the One and it’s so easy to put on and off and get baby in and out of. Does this one continue to be ergonomic and give good hip support for baby even as they grow bigger?
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. This carrier is very much designed for the early days, so doesn't go as wide as the One. However, if you watch the video that will be published next Weds, you'll see that it shows the carrier used with an older baby. The fabric fans around to support baby in an ergonomic position as they grow bigger

Thanks for your question. This demo video is specifically for newborns without head control. As I explain in the video, if baby has a gentle curve to their spine - with knees higher than bottom - their head will naturally rest against you. Ensure the flap is folded down and comes up to the nape of baby's neck/their ear lobes. You can adjust how tight the edge is, so it's snug behind baby. Hope that's helpful 🙂

Hi i brought the Baby Bjorn Move carrier due to me being quite an active mum with a newborn but I wasn't sure if I needed to buy the mini carrier for a newborn if this carrier was better for the first 6 months? would you know what the difference between the two as i cant really find much information thank you.
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for your message. Both are suitable from birth, providing the carrier fits baby securely and keeps clear airways (as per my videos). The Move will last a little longer, due to the additional support around the back and waist. Both the Mini and Move will be very similar for the first 6 months. The Mini will start to pull on your shoulders from around 6+ months and won't be as comfortable as baby gets heavier. Both the Mini and the Move are just for carrying on the front - not on the back. Essentially, there's very little difference between Mini and Move for a newborn but the Move is more supportive as baby gets bigger and heavier. Hope that helps!

Hello! How long the one month baby can be carried in the mini babybjorn?
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. Providing baby is held securely - with clear airways - and is taken out for feeding and changing, as needed. Plus the wearer is comfortable. There is no real time limit. It’s not like a car seat. A baby carrier is designed to hold baby in a similar position to carrying in your arms. I hope that helps

I’ve been using that head flap up 😮 my newborn bobed his head allot. Even now that he’s 8 weeks old I have it up. So it’s covering most of his head 😳 I thought that’s how you do it
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings Жыл бұрын
Providing baby has a gentle tilt to their pelvis - knees higher than bottom with a gentle curve to their spine - their head will naturally rest against the wearer. If you have a look at how I tilt the doll's pelvis in the video that should help. If baby's head is bobbing it's likely that their back is straight, with legs hanging down, rather than knees tucked up. The folded, top edge of the carrier can come up to their earlobes - which again provides support - but ideally you want to ensure the top edge is no higher than earlobes. This allows clear air circulation and also ensures their head won't be pushed against the wearer, which could restrict airways. When the flap has been folded over it can be tightened up to ensure a snug fit behind the base of baby's head. That should also help. Once they have full head control - and can have arms over the top edge of the carrier - the flap can be raised for support if they fall asleep, facing inwards. Hope that helps!

@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. How baby carriers fit is very individual. The BabyBjorn Mini transfers baby’s weight into your upper back and shoulders. Some people prefer this. Others prefer having the weight transferred to their waist/hips. It sounds like you might be better with a carrier that doesn’t put all the weight on your upper back and shoulders. Do you have a sling library locally? They'll be able to help you with checking the fit and ensuring it's adjusted comfortably. You can also try alternative options, if you'd like to. It really does make such a difference to try different carriers to see what’s right for you. Some people love a specific carrier while others hate it and love something else. It’s very much down to how it fits your body shape and how you like to distribute the weight. But - equally - having a fit check to see if a simple adjustment can help is always handy. If you’re in the UK I can signpost you to your nearby Sling Library if that helps

Thanks for your question. It’s weighted-tested up to 11kg but tends to be most comfortable for the first 6 months or so. Obviously all wearers are different, and some will use it much longer, but that’s the time I find it’s optimum for, for most people. Hope that helps!

@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings Жыл бұрын
So sorry - I totally missed this message. Providing baby is held in an ergonomic position - with knees tucked up above bottom - and you are comfy using it, there is no need to wait after having a c-section. The advice is to not lift anything heavier than your baby. Using a carrier helps to spread the weight so there's less strain on your body when carrying baby. Listen to your body though and take it gently to begin with as everyone's recovery is different

I have this carrier. I can’t seem to adjust it it feels too tight on him? Where do I adjust that bit? I am adjusting the measurement to his height
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the design of this particular carrier doesn’t really allow you to adjust how tight baby is against you. You can do up the little loops on the side for a very small baby and you can adjust how loose/tight the bit behind the neck goes, but the main body panel isn’t adjustable - other than the height of the panel. How old is your baby?

Is the mini suitable for shorter babies than the original version
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings 5 жыл бұрын
Hello! With the Mini on the very shortest setting I've fitted it to fairly small newborns. The demo doll used is a small newborn size. It fits most babies from day one. The key thing is that baby is held as tightly as a cuddle in arms and has clear airways. Hope that helps!

So does it support newborn neck/head?!
@SouthEastSlings
@SouthEastSlings 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. Providing baby has a gentle curve to their spine - with their knees tucked up higher than bottom - their head will naturally rest against the wearer. This is the position most newborns tend to adopt when carrying in arms. Additional head support isn’t a requirement (with any carrier, providing the positioning is as above). If you do find you need additional support, you can bring the folded piece up, behind baby’s head. Just make sure you check they still have plenty of clear air circulation and their nose and mouth aren’t pressed in against the wearer (ideally head turned to one side or the other). Hope that helps!

Nedim Karabulut hello! Thanks for your comment. If baby is supported with their knees tucked up higher than their bottom, with a gentle curve to their spine, much of the time their head will naturally rest against you. If it does need a bit of support you can either gently use your chin to support their head, or support baby’s bottom with the crook of your elbow, so your hand can support their head. Let me know if that helps :-)

No baby carrier should be made without providing to the mother the comfort of breastfeeding, and that is one of them, unfortunately. Baby carriers start missing the point, and though they advertise themselves how close they bring the babies to their mothers, in a matter of distance, however, they never say how far they bring them from the mother, by making breastfeeding difficult.

Christos Georgatos thank you for your comments. All baby carriers fit different people differently, so it’s important to choose the one that’s right for the wearer and baby. Keeping baby close enables the wearer to notice feeding cues more easily than if baby is kept separate. This means they can feed them as soon as they are hungry. This carrier is quick and easy to take off in order to allow for breastfeeding. Some carriers do have the option to be used as a feeding aid (to help support baby’s weight for feeding) but, when baby is small, no baby carrier should be seen as a totally handsfree option to ensure baby maintains clear airways I have a couple of videos demonstrating using baby carriers and slings as a feeding aid, if you’re interested
