This isn’t a Hancock 3 chime. It’s actually the only surviving example of a Virginia & Southwestern Railway 3-chime. It’s a heavily modified Southern Ps-4 whistle on a Nathan 6-chime bowl.

I agree. They’re (in my opinion) the most well-proportioned steam locomotives ever built. The mikados and consolidations have the right blend of large and small features on a medium sized locomotive. That makes them more versatile and efficient.

It’s not a PS4 whistle, it’s a Virginia and Southwestern 3 chime. 630 and 610 have work it prior.

@@PereMarquette1223the V&SW was basically a 1-for-1 copy of the Ps-4 whistle, albeit with a bottom lever nathan valve instead of a Southern Railway top-lever poppet valve.

The whistle does sound nice but the engineer does not do it justice. I would like to see a video with an engineer that knows how to blow a whistle.
