I taste the broken first layer and it was delicious. I’m a put some caramel on there for me and my sister to eat. I didn’t throw it away. Edit: Bakers Hack - Once cakes have baked; allow to cool. Once cooled about 10 minutes on bakers rack. Wrap in plastic wrap for 30 minutes. Unwrap, and frost as desired. I learned to make cakes from boxed cake mixes until I advanced in my cooking and now make all my cakes from scratch as well. Hi Tracie! I went out today and bought two Duncan Heins cake mixes. I'm excited to make this cake in a 13x9 inch pan (much easier) this Thanksgiving and possibly again for Christmas. I have tried making a few caramel cakes from scratch and all the layers were too soft and crumbly. However, the last one I made with a Pillsbury cake mix turned out best. I'm also looking forward to making what looks like a pretty simple caramel icing...yum. Thanks so much!

Simply BEAUTIFUL!! I can't wait to make this!!! Thank you!! Maybe you could help me with a recipe. My hubbies Mom used to make "caramel rolls". No matter what I try I can't do what he remembers. She made the homemade bread, rolled it out, put butter and brown sugar and I guess cinnamon. My mom made cinnamon rolls with butter, white sugar, cinnamon, and raisins. Rolled it up, cut the roll about 1 & 1/2 inch rolls. Set aside to raise. Then cooked in the oven. My mother in law placed her rolls in the pan and I guess she poured half & half or heavy whipping cream. When I try to make it, it's a huge flop no matter what I try. I can't ask my mother in law. She passed away. I have been married to my beloved hubby 40 years. You'd think I would've figured this out long ago. My husband, heck, even my son in law raves about my cooking. Wish I could get these rolls right for him. Can you help me??? Thank you in advance.

Wait a minute... So I even forgot to put the milk in the cake. But with that, this was still so decadent. And Rich 🤩. I used brown sugar totally and use a combination of pet milk and 100% cream. Oh my God, you talk about rich.. oh my goodness it was on point. You can only have a little bit of it at a time. So I'm trying to give it away lol. The other thing I did different, was old school, my grandmother would aerate her cake, and then put the icing on top let it cool and then put another layer icing on top. It allowed the icing to go down into the cake a little bit And you got more combined flavors. I did that, and this turned out great! Thank you!

Hi Tracie: It’s Monday February 13 at 3:50 pm. I’m gonna make this tomorrow for Valentines Day & just making sure ur supposed to beat in mixer for 3 min., seems like a long time. U sped up the video, so I’m not sure. I’ve heard if u over beat it could make it dry. Please let me know, it looks delicious & want it to b perfect. Thanks- Jenny in Nashvegas.

Hi Jenny! 👋🏽 Anywhere between 2-3 minutes will be fine. Yes, that is true for some cakes at certain stages of the batter process. 👍🏽
