I remember this film as a boy from the 90's more vividly than 99% of films. That's a good movie.

Superb, atmospheric, well-acted action thriller. Probably my favourite of Walter Hill’s films along with The Warriors. Even though Keith Carradine has top billing, Powers Boothe owns this film. Brilliant actor.

Don’t forget 48 hours as well. Great film. He also wrote the story for Aliens along with David Giler and James Cameron. Very talented fellow is Mr Hill.

I enjoyed it. It's terrifying just because it's realistic. This is one of the few horror/thriller movie trailers that doesn't spoil the movie

awesome film,saw this years ago and loved it.i love actors like powers booth.the guy is so cool and he's got a great voice.keith carradine is an awesome actor,he gets over shadowed by his brother david who was great,but keith has been in some great movies and had some great roles too.love the plot of this film and the action was great !

I’ve liked this film since I first saw it on cable in the early 80s, sometime around late 81 or early 82. I wasn’t sure what to think of it at first but when Ry Cooder’s score kicked in for the opening titles I was hooked. I think it’s unusual that Walter Hill denies that it’s a subtle allegory of Vietnam when it’s pretty damn obvious that’s EXACTLY what it is. Maybe he didn’t see that in the script but it’s there and it’s good.

@@marksmarsh2039 Oh, that was definitely a factor, but I doubt the Cajuns would've hunted them down across the swamp for just that. As far as the Cajuns know, the guardsmen stole their boats AND tried to kill them - they had no idea about the blanks. Plus they didn't speak English, so had no idea what the soldiers were saying.

What a badly edited and narrated trailer. It does this great movie no justice. It also gives away most of the scenes. I watch this movie once every 15 or so years. By then, i've forgotten most of the scenes, just knowing i'm in for a great film.

I've recently seen this movie and it's a good mix of quality actors with a pretty lame script and a generic bad guys it's almost like an A-Team TV show script that got stretched out into a movie but it's good entertainment for a B movie

What a terrible trailer that spoils the movie, all trailers do really, but some films you just need to see without prior info (always the best way)...and No not here due to Joe idiot Rogan and his millennial worshippers...saw the movie in the 80s on VHS (and many times after) not long after it came out before the internet existed, so keep your sheepdom.

Not really. The movie makes it clear that they only attacked because the Guardsmen shot at them, stole from them, and kidnapped one of their friends. Had they been left alone, there wouldn't have been any trouble.
