Southern Illinois Bass Fishing | This Lake is KILLER!

My friend Pat took me to a lake in southern Illinois to go fishing for the day and crush some bass. This place was great and he mentioned it was a bit slow so I'm definitely ready to head back. The fishing was good and the lake had a lot of great features. The bass were healthy and a decent size. He says there is some size in there but we will hopefully see those someday soon when I can get back out there. I haven't fished Southern Illinois before and it didn't disappoint. Cant give up the spot because it isn't mine but there's definitely a lot of lakes in the area Id like to try. Enjoy!

Was just out here the other day and it was TOUGHH! Ill post the rest of my long comment as a reply to this if u wanna know how our day was out there right b4 the hurricane came last week! Startedoff crazyyyyy good but that ended 10 min after sun up & was a GRIND there on out til i found a pattern at the end! if u dont care then u can stop here lol if u see a big ol country mofo in a Dodge ram towing a Ranger RT188P & 115hp etecHO.. say whats up lol .. currently loading up while i type.. gunna hit those "pits that have a ton of lakes inside it & ones named after a James Bond movie" lol if u catch my drift ...

Right at 1st light til sadly just a few min after sunup.. we blasted those school size 1-2lb dinks in the very back of the 1st finger there on the right hand side of main lake (only 2 fingers so im assuming u know what im saying) but they obliterated the Evergreen shower blows 105 & my new fav buzz, the new Teckle Maxsqueker.. (1st buzz to make me put my crock-o-gator head knocker down) & lastly got 2 more dinks on the Deps NZ Crawler Jr walking Thought we had a killer day ahead of us! But nope.. straight GRINDDD! Ended up mid strolling deeeep 40+ft water and targeting 20-25ft suspended fish with a 3/8oz owner range roller head on a sakamata shad as well as a core tackle hover rig on a Raid Japan's "fish roller" they came out with... was a blast all the way til we stopped catching em to load up the boat! But took me some hours and graphing with my front graphs + FFS to find those fish! Lakes been super tough lately.. buddy of mine lives not even 10 min away & fishes it multiple times weekly & his dad and him said they've never seen the lake fish this bad in a longgg time! Was dynamite the last few years Ina row... but took this year off i guess Cheers buddy

When I was growing up and my dad got back from fishing with a nice stringer of fish, people would always ask him 'Where did you catch those fish?' He would take his thumb and forefinger and put them together on the corner of his lower lip and say 'Right here!' Damn Straight Skippy!

I just fished 4 days at Table Rock. It’s awesome but I had 2 good days and 2 that were not great. This time of year can definitely test you. The weather has been real unstable lately.

Haha yeah. Today’s tournament was frustrating. Last 4 hours were a grind. But at least I was fishing. Could be worse I guess. I haven’t fished kinkade. Need to get over there and check it out.

That Cypress SixGill rod is a sleeper. It's a workhorse rod. I've caught plenty on a jig on that rod. It's better than some of their more expensive options.

It always did me well. Little bulky in the taper but besides that it was a decent rod for the price for sure 👍

I need to get back to that lake. The main point, east of the boat ramp, at sundown, they’ll be busting the surface. Do they let you go no wake now, with the big engine?

I don’t know actually. I think it’s state park lakes from what I’ve heard. Not sure what it falls under. That would be great though. Trolling isn’t too bad but it would be nice to run the motor.

Yeah it does. Not sure which lake. There’s a few in the area. My buddys spot. First time I’ve been down there. Hopefully get to go down again before winter.
