Southern Klaipėda (Soviet districts) | Lithuania by drone

Klaipėda's southern extension was built during the Soviet occupation of Lithuania and it is full of similar-looking Soviet apartment blocks. Since independence, however, some of the districts were shedding their gritty industrial past to become the new city center of Klaipėda. We fly over all Southern Klaipėda, the old and crubling, the renovated, and the modern one, with new shopping malls and arena.

Simply not correct. Lithuania acquired Klaipėda in 1923 after the Lithuanian-supported Klaipėda Revolt and it was not related to the Soviet Union or Russia anyhow. Klaipėda Revolt was the last in a series of events that established Republic of Lithuania (1918-1923). In these independence wars, Soviet Union (bolsheviks) stood against Lithuania trying to attach it to the Soviet Union but, at that time, they failed. Nazi Germany then took over Klaipėda Region in 1939 and the rest of Lithuania in 1941. When Soviet Union (re)conquered Lithuania in 1944-1945, it established its administrative unit of Lithuanian SSR on the basis of Republic of Lithuania that existed prior to Nazi German occupations, so, it included all the Lithuanian areas that had been controlled by the Nazi Germany during WW2. In any case, this Lithuanian SSR 1944-1990 was not independent anyhow, it was occupied by the Soviet Union. Soviet Union gave nothing „to Lithuanians“ in 1944, it just took over the entire Lithuania, including Klaipėda, Kaunas, etc. from the Nazi Germany (replacing one occupation by another). „Lithuanian SSR“ was merely an adiministrative unit within the Soviet Union with very limited powers. Independence of Lithuania happened only in 1990, only at that time did Lithuanians regain sovereignity over all of their cities from the Soviet Union, including Klaipėda.

130,000 Lithuanians (~5% of the population at the time) were deported by the soviet union. You might wanna go read a (history) book, Pavlos, before calling others names.

@@TrueLithuania The “independent” Lithuania offered Klaipeda to Nazis on March 1939. The city is undoubtedly a gift of the Soviet Union. The entire Lithuania is a gift of the Soviet Union to the Lithuanias…How many Lithuanians fought on the side of Hitler? Those scums declared heroes after 1991. 5% is too little if we take into account how many partisans, communists, Jews were murdered from these fascists. True Lithuania are their worthy successors…

​@@TrueLithuania Хочу вам внести принципиальную ясность, открыть "тайну", о которой многие знают, но тихо-тихо молчат… Дело в том, что Клайпеда (её архитектура) на 95% Советский НОВОДЕЛ, включая т.н. "Старый город". Вся Клайпеда в 1945 году была в руинах от рук вермахта. Даже когда Красная армия заняла сам город, немцы обстреливали её не только с косы, но и с корабельных орудий с Балтики за косой. Потом "Старый город" восстановили и реставрировали, предав ему "средневековую" нотку. Мой Отец был командиром сапёрной роты, они только в 1958 году полностью закончили разминирование Клайпеды и Калининграда. "Музей аквариум" на косе построен в 70-х годах на развалинах немецкой крепости. Руины, которые видел лично (будучи совсем пацаном), Отец водил смотреть, когда закончились сапёрные работы. Вот такие дела. Так что ВСЯ Клайпеда чистейший НОВОДЕЛ времён Советской Литвы. В инете есть документы и фото, посмотрите, уверен будет интересно, а может расстроитесь до самоубийства. Последний вопрос про "оккупацию", - в какой стране вы видели, что в Армии "оккупантов" в одной шеренге стояли оккупированные. Ели из одного котелка и спали в одной казарме. Мало того, многие литовские офицеры в Советской армии занимали самые высокие посты и должности. Как быть с высшим образованием и не только? Любой ГРАЖДАНИН СССР (литовец в том числе) имел полное право - свободно перемещаться по ВСЕЙ территории Страны, учится в ЛЮБОМ учебном заведении БЕСПЛАТНО получая стипендию, такие же права были и у больного человека в получении медицинской помощи. Если СССР оккупировало Литву, то что Брюссель с Литвой делает сегодня? Если у вас мозги набекрень, то другим их не засерайте. Кстати, в тех, Советских квартирах слышимость соседей почти не было. Достали ВРАНЬЁМ - ВСЕ.
