My Mother grew up during the Great Depression , and she told me that the reason that she didn't like Okra is because when she was a child Grandpa grew It and she Had to Eat It. But I love Okra always have.

boss man, i learned about okra when i would eat lunch at the Greyhound bus station lunch counter in CHGO in the early 70's. the short order cook was an older black gentleman, my 1st taste of SUTHRN COOKIN. when i moved to Griffin GA in 78, i was right at HOME. ❣ use the squeeze tube of tomato paste too AB. (THANKS FOR THE SHOUT OUT, you KNOW i said that) and you know me, i need to DR it some. i would add some cooked chicken also. (i will never be a skinny man)

@Smokin' and Grillin'with AB If a person doesn't like or hasn't tried okra, they are missing out 😊 Simply one of the best vegetables God blessed us with. AB I am hooked on your videos. Your cooking reminds me of my late husband, he was from down south. We would get in the kitchen and set it on 🔥 . After losing him I lost desire in cooking, but since watching your videos it's sparked that 🔥 Since both of us loved okra I'm on my way to the market now. This is pretty similar to southern style okra and tomatoes just with sausage and shrimp added. I pretty much only pair okra and tomatoes with seafood or pork, so this is kinda what leftovers are like for me the next day. I never thought to cook it all together from the start.
