In Southern Sweden there is a place called Lake Vättern. It's the second largest lake in Sweden and there are many things to see around it. For example a peaceful national park, the home of the famous swedish candy cane and a small town all made of wood. Let's do a little road trip!
▪️ 0:00 - Hello from Sweden
▪️ 0:11 - My little house in the woods
▪️ 1:06 - Brahehus - old castle ruin
▪️ 1:55 - Gränna, home of the candy cane
▪️ 2:37 - Old village Röttle by
▪️ 3:38 - Habo Church
▪️ 4:17 - Wooden town Hjo
▪️ 5:15 - Karlsborg fortress
▪️ 5:59 - Tiveden National Park
▪️ 7:28 - Watching the sunset
▪️ 8:16 - Goodbye for now

I am a simple girl, my dream is to live in a cabin by a lake in a Scandinavian country. Every day I pick flowers, hear birds chirping and see butterflies flying freely, catch fish every Saturday, make cakes and cook warm meal for dear people 💚

2nd largest lake, but definitely our favourite! Would highly recommend Vadstena if you end up doing Vättern again!

Every year there is a popular bike race around Lake Vättern, with star and finish in Motala. It is one of four competitions included in "A Swedish Classic", which also includes Lidingöloppet (running), Vansbrosimningen (swimming) and Vasaloppet (cross-country skiing). John Bauer, one of Sweden's most famous artists, was born in Jönköping and died on Lake Vättern, only 36 years old, together with his wife and 3-year-old son in a boating accident.

Great video. I live close enough to make a day-tour to these places, and although I have been to most of the places on the east side, you got me inspired to visit Hjo and Tiveden now. Thank you! Should you explore Vättern again, be sure to Visit the city of Vadstena and it's old abbey, the Island of Visingsö in the middle of Vättern and the mountain/hill of Omberg where you have a great view over Vättern and the fields of Östergötland (in it's vicinity you can also find the ruins of Alvastra abbey, the bird-lake Tåkern and Swedens largest runestone at Rök.

Hi there Matthias. I enjoyed your video. I wonder if you looked at or considered Lake Vanern? It's the largest and presumably couldn't be comfortably done as a day trip, but do you think it has similar interesting things to see?

a video about vättern with nothing about Jönköping and Huskvarna? There are some really amazing views over the lake there, and also one of the most beutiful motorways in Europe. Good video though, I just think you missed the southern region of Vättern

Wundervolles Video. Ich bin erstaunt :( 6:38 min .. meat .. barbecue.. ?

@@chalphon4907 My point was that what the huge majority of Scandinavians call a house , in America it would considered a barn ! best case scenario it would be considered a low income ghetto house . That's how damn ugly they are
