Well, as an european, I'm really glad for these competitions, because it showing skills of all european tram drivers and they can to compare their skills between us and other europpeat tram drivers from differend countries. It is really diverse. From my country there are also tram drivers from Prague.

While some of these events - such as knocking the ball at the pins - doesn't look all that relevant skills-wise, it sure looks like a lot of fun. I hear about events like this for basically any profession, I'm sure training for them helps to sharpen skills, it's great for publicity, and I'm sure a huge morale boost. Driving the host's trams would make things somewhat unfair, as those who drive those trams or others of the same model would be at a huge advantage over those who drive different types. But as long as they don't make the competition too serious that's not really a problem.

Yeah but the host city only won once since TRAM-EM exists, so they've managed to make the hardware differences less important.
