Yay, Trader Joe’s is the best!! :) they have the best stuff and when I first went one of the cashiers told me they don’t sell anything that has any kind of artificial preservative or anything like that - just natural stuff like salt. Great stuff and great prices

Growing up in Southern California in the 1960s, Trader Joe’s was originally called Pronto Markets. After school, we would stop by Pronto on our walk home to get snacks such as trail mix and fresh juice. They’ve always had such a neat vibe, even 50 years ago.

So in Germany we have two Aldi chains. Aldi north and Aldi south. (Two brothers that split at some point.) Anyway Trader Joe’s is Aldi north and the Aldi you have in the US is Aldi south.

The fruit “rolls” are my favorite, but theirs aren’t actually rolled. They’re just like bars. They’re pretty sticky and don’t have any wax paper. I always get the apple strawberry and apple blueberry flavors.

My supermarket Woolworths in Australia has the most amazing reusable tote bags. Only problem is they are a bit too small and I end up carrying 20 of them haha. Yet again beats plastic bags snapping with a bag of chips in them

Trader Joe’s makes some of her most unique snacks and sweets. They are always so festive around the year also. It’s my go to grocery stores! I’m so glad you got to try it out! I recommend their hand soaps and their body butter is sooooo good! I hope you shop there again.

I understand what you mean about the atmosphere or clientele in stores like Trader Joes. I went into one about 20 miles away from me. The ritzy shopping center it was in did not have a black top parking lot, it was all brick pavers.... I mean we're talking acres of brick pavers. I've never seen anything like it, that's big money. Inside the store, I also felt underdressed. Everybody was wearing the latest, expensive fashions and designer names. One designer purse probably cost on more than my vehicle is worth. Speaking of vehicles, just about every SUV/car in the Trader Joe's parking lot was a Bentley, Mercedes, Lexus, Range or Land Rover, BMW, Tesla, etc. Sure the store has a lot of interesting, unique foods but I, too, felt like I was at a party I wasn't invited to. I think my vehicle felt the same. 😞🚙

Living in different places changes your perspective. I live in Houston and 25 miles away is just going from Southwest to Northwest lol. I only commute for 6 miles (10+minutes) but my dad commutes 25 miles. On a good day it takes him 30 minutes, on a bad day it takes him 45mins to 1hr. Just a normal day lol.

Agreed. I drive 1.5 hours to work everyday and my husband drives 2.5 each way for work. Where I live it's nothing to drive over an hour just to go eat dinner or to the mall. The nearest gas station in over 10 mins away. Small town life.
