Another use for radial symmetry in this video. I’m looking forward to seeing what vehicles people start to make with these new features. It’s awesome to see lots more artists using and creating content with Nomad sculpt lately.

Trying to follow on the latest version of nomad however the radial symmetry 3:16 behaves differently than shown here can anyone else confirm this too? When setting Y to 32 the other side of the rim gets moved too and no matter how I move the faces with the move tool I get a lot of triangles?

I tried to follow this but im having issues with symmetry and insert..it doesn't seem to work like here? When I try to add the box I don't see any ghost objects and only one box is inserted...can you help at all?

I followed your tutorial up to 3:17 when you go to symmetry and adjust the Y Plane, but I'm having an issue with that certain plane. For some reason the Y Plane for me is expanding fully within the cylinder and the corners of the plane are sticking out a bit, having a bit of trouble figuring out how to shrink it. Have you come across this issue before?

I am a machinist, and a artist. To do the nuts it would possibly be easier to use a cylinder. Not a critique just what happens in real life. Thank you for all you do. I have learned A ton from you. 💜✌🏼✊🏼🏴☠️

Hi, tnx great tutorial. I am new to Nomad and 3D in general. I am following your steps but when I try to add the spokes with insert, I l only get 1 box. And also if I go to symmetry and increase the radial Y planes to more nothing happens. Still 1 box. What am I missing here? Please help. Tnx!

You can’t change the divisions to “64” the app always forces it to “66” You didn’t notice.

As a complete beginner to working in 3d would it be better to start with blender on pc or nomad sculpt on ipad to ultimately create characters for video games?

Blender. Nomad will only get you part of the way. If you want to make a career out of it you could look at Max Maya and ZBrush as you won’t find many UK colleges and Universities that use Blender yet. If you are a student there’s a way to get most stuff free but if not then Blender is king!

Wait…Glen?? I thought for a second this was a 7 Mirrors video! ;) 🤔 A very handy tool, indeed…kinda makes your head spin. (Pause for that to sink in.) Unrelated question: you expect that 3d paint in Procreate update will be vertex color based, correct? So, not yet UV texture map paint? I’m trying hard to keep character models fairly low poly. Vertex paint in Nomad looks beautiful but needs high poly to shine. Maybe Procreate will import UV maps too? That would be too easy. Any thoughts? 🧠 Thanks 🙏 ☕️🎩🎩🎩

I paint in nomad at super high res abs capture that onto a texture map for my low poly in ZBrush. I believe Blender can do that but I’ve never actually tried yet. Nothing is wasted in Nomad and capturing Vertex could to Uv/texture maps has been around since the ark. I would give me left arm to have UVs and textures in Nomad but I’m happy to wait. Look how far it’s come in just one year! As to procreate I have no idea what solution they will be using but based on their first animation release I’m guessing we will just get vertex paint to start off. I hope it’s more but I’ve not heard anything

@@SouthernGFX 🎩🎩🎩 That would be one fantastic video!!! Painting in super high res in Nomad and capture that onto a texture map in Blender. Must confess…I don’t know how that’s done. 🤔 The Nomad (for sculpt/paint) to Blender path is important for first time animation producers because it abbreviates and sidesteps so much software learning curve. Make puppet here, move puppet there. Thanks 🙏 🍺🎩🎩🎩…and thanks for your response.

Hello Mr Southern, sorry to disturb you again. I just wanted to ask that; I did a custom dinosaur head and I finished it. And then I started to design the body by using shapes. Then I tried to voxel remesh the body with the head. But as always, voxel remesh caused the resolution to get lower. But when I try to upgrade the resolution it doesn’t work. I don’t know what to do. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks for the vids.

I cover this in the Trex course. You should always try to decide on the over all block out at the beginning. If you fully finish a model and then try to join it to something else you are going to have to compromise in one way or another. It’s not like other programs where you can project the colour and detail back on. Voxel remeshing is destructive and will cause issues if you are doing it to models with high fidelity detail and colour. I’ll find a chapter that really helps and make it available on the channel for you and anyone else.

Great video as usual. How do you think it would compare using primitives to using the lathe feature for this particular example? IMO, it would be great if the developer adds low poly features to nomad, or maybe releases an stand-alone app for low poly modeling
