Halloween week here we come! Lets kick the week off with a little Skeleton character made in Nomad Sculpt and then fire him over to Adobe Mixamo for a bit of Auto rig magic.

Yeah sorry about that , I noticed after sending lol, it’s a shame I can’t afford z brush atm , was hoping you would do it in c4d or blender but other than that , this helps a lot to get some animations with models I make myself , thankyou =)

Don‘t know if this got pointed out before, but it cannot hurt. For Mixamo you just need a free Adobe account and not a Creative Cloud subscription. Mixamo is completely free to use by anybody and I totally love this. 🥰 And while commenting on this I can point out, that you make amazing videos, Sir!

Ah, so, looks like I can put creations in here. Not exactly what I imagined but it’s all learning eh. Good to see how characters behave animated. Loving your videos. Bought Nomad because even though I can’t use it as I’d like, it will most definitely help with character creation. Your videos so far will be very helpful for me as a beginner and as I progress. Happy Halloween 🎃 and thanks so much 👍🏼👻👍🏼

Another great video…I had this one saved until I became proficient enough in Nomad and Blender to pull a scene all together. Finally there now! One question, if I don’t have Zbrush for retopology would you still suggest CozyBlanket or just subdivide/build a low poly model in Nomad? I would not be at this point without your videos-THANKS!!

Watch the end of the video where I do just that in ZBrush. I didn't show it first as I wanted to show beginners that they can just throw the model in there. Thanks for the kind words and support!

@@KEEFPSTV it's funny I did the video without that bit then thought exactly like you did that the retop bit would help.

This is a fantastic tutorial - thank you! I'm new to Nomad (and 3D sculpt) and are now keen to get my character animated, but to get my character into Mixamo I have to reduce the file size so low that it loses all the details (and paint details). Also there are weird weight painting issues due to the high vertex count). How would you fix the topology without access to Z-Brush? I only have access to Blender (and are new to this also but cant find a work around and remesh clears the vertex paint). Would you be able to advise a workflow to fix this :)
@SouthernGFX3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Getting a model to an animatable mesh is one of the hardest parts of this kind of work. I do it for a living so I use ZBrush but as you mentioned you don’t have access to that. You need to spend the time and learn how to retopologise in Blender. I use retopoflow which is a paid add-on but relatively cheap. Once you have your retopology sorted it’s easy to UV unwrap it and then texture it. Take your time and learn each step. There are no shortcuts here. You can do an auto retop using Instant meshes but it’s not going to be as good as doing it by hand.
@nickymalone87983 жыл бұрын
@@SouthernGFX Thanks for the fast reply! :) Yeah, was hoping there would be a quick fix but looks like I will have to put in the time. ps. Have tried Instant Meshes but this didn't get good results unfortunately. Thank you so much for your valuable advice! :)

It’s well worth going through the pain. It is slow at first but once you have retop nailed it falls into place. I really must do a video series on this

Loved the video. Thanks for this tutorial. I have a question, can we use Mixamo made animations in our own small games? (commercial use)
@SouthernGFX3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And You can. Adobe say you can use both characters and animations royalty free for personal, commercial and non profit projects. Look up the mixamo FAQ

love the tutorial! im stuck on one part i exported my 3D character into maximo & substance painter and im getting an error message. could it be my model have alot of polygons?
@SouthernGFX4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the resolution is always the problem. To test it just Voxel remesh it lower and export again. As I said in the video you really need to do a retopology to get the best out of it. Loads of programs have a re-top feature now. Let me know how you get on!

Does Nomad Sculpt take a lot of storage on the iPad? Would 256gb be sufficient for Nomad Sculpt and Procreate? Thank you for any help!! :)
@SouthernGFX4 жыл бұрын
Very minimal. Since it was launched I have created 2.2 gig of files which could all be offloaded to Dropbox or another device. The core app is still only 45meg. Which is insane. I have Nomad, Procreate and 61 other apps and I have tons of space left on a 256ipad. Be careful if you start using video a lot as that eats your storage.
@becca64664 жыл бұрын
@@SouthernGFX Thank you so much!! I was really concerned that it would take a ton of storage.

Great videos! How well does this app handle multiple imported OBJ files? I have been trying to make something in Fusion 360 where I copy and change the shape of the imported mesh a little each time but Fusion loses the saved file. The OBJ is copied and rotated about a column after being copied. Fusion is killing me. Could this app be better for that?
@SouthernGFX4 жыл бұрын
Really depends on what you are trying to do. They are two different technologies so you need to be clear about what you want to do.

Hey! Man great tutorials im using nomad and ur tutorial helped me a lot.....one question Does the mixamo website supports touch screen devices? Because when i used the mixamo auto rigger in my android device with chrome browser It didn't work I mean the rigging points i cant move it to set the rigging points on character.. Do i need a stylus?

Good point actually. I’ve never really tried on the Ipad until just now and I got the same as you. It works but I get no touch capability. I’ll see what I can find out today.

@@SouthernGFX thank you! Btw i made a character in nomad Sculpt and i have uploaded it on sketchfab skfb.ly/6VVHq I have favour to ask you, can you please take my character and use mixamo to rig the character and give some animations like walk run and so on, show it on your KZbin channel You can also review and give critics on my work!i should be very glad if you do. Im asking you this , because i dont have PC currently at home , so im not able to use mixamo to animate and see my character come to life. I can model Sculpt and upload on sketchfab using my phone But cant animate it. Im 3d artist , indie game developer to be in future. It would be cool , u can make review video of Sculpts created with nomad by your Subscribers If you are interested to do so, I will send you the google drive link To my model , it is paid on sketchfab so u might not interested buying 😅

Go to SCENE (top left). Add a primitive and it appears in the layers and in your scene. Use VALIDATE (green button) and away you go. www.dropbox.com/s/ilm7fccn6zylls5/Scene.jpg?dl=0
