At the 4:16 time in the video, the man wearing the blue T-shirt, >bent his knees, when picking up the tank. The weight was lifted more with his legs. ... Nate had the weight fulcrumed more on his back (specially the small vertebrates). A strong young man can use the strength in his back, when young. But, slight injuries add up to a sore back when older.

Love DIY stuff. Especially hunting. What a great idea and investment. We have built all of our hunting stands. This year will be my first build on a 6'x6'. Now that my wife hunts with me more, and my older kids and nephews now want to give it a shot. So Im going to get some friends to help me build a couple of bigger stands on the property. Really hope I can run across one of these. Thanks for the video.

We have tried a few things but nothing we like. It might be some metal flashing layed flat and chalked. It only has to stick out about 1 inch or more to drip it away. We saved the plastic pieces we cut out so after season we can put them in but the flashing cant interfere with the pieces after we put them in.

It would be cool to mark the interior wall with yardages to land marks around. Kind of a dope sheet for anything animals could be lingering around. Since the blind is fixed you can always have a rough estimate of yardage.

Great setup! It's great that your whole family will have been involved over the years to come. In a dire emergency it could be used as a bug out location. In that case maybe paint the deck to have it harder to see from the air.

That's the coolest DIY hunting blind project I've seen. I was thinking you might save those window cut outs and postition above the windows as a quasi-awning. In case you get a driving rain storm it might help keep some sideways rain out of your shoot house.

If you don't have children look for a good people to help and be close with. A life with purpose that helps others is the cornerstone of our civilization and it is now slipping away.

Just to name a few items off the top of my head that I would have used its tank for instead of a hunting blind Hot tub, cold Plunge tub or pool.... and in a shtf you could still use that water. Root cellar A fallout shelter A shower or Sana / steam room A storage room Place to store animal feed A refurbished water storage tank. A treehouse for the kids A chicken coop Part of a septic system like putting an outhouse over the top of it and running a leach field out from it. Rain water system for a garden And the uses are countless for a prepper, a survivalist or somebody that's just got property. Animals cannot only see you but they can hear and smell you. Most states require for hunting that you must have Orange on you so that others won't mistaken you for an animal. Also most western states prohibit baiting for any animal, require special licenses for trapping and prohibit the use of blinds on public and private land. KNOW YOUR STATE fish and game laws and be aware that they change from year to year
@xo2quilt4 ай бұрын
It was cracked/broken on the bottom which would make it unable to contain liquids and would allow bugs/rodents access. A chicken coop (may allow access for snakes) or a treehouse are your only two suggestions that would possibly work. He made something that will serve his family for many years.
@oldstoner-xn4pe4 ай бұрын
@@xo2quilt they have epoxy to repair those tanks. And you can put a rubber membrane around it. It could have been repaired professionally for less than $200 less than what he spent on the pressure treated wood. You do realize those are made at the factory in different molds in the epoxy it together to make the tank the top and the bottom are separate the lids are separate and it's all epoxy together

Great idea, SouthernPrepper1. Too bad about the crack occurrence, that cracked the floor. ... I wouldn't trust a patch repair in an old plastic tank floating out on a lake. = When I first saw the opening, I thought you might be installing a pair of big moto duck-wings on the blind, and cruise a lake or pond, to duck hunt. Deer hunting will be fun in the plastic tank; much better than the fabric tent blind. ...
