I love my Kanile'a Platinum and the longer I've had it, the more I've realized how important all the small changes are that help this ukulele make the player as comfortable as possible. The thinned section under my right arm gives my right hand the best playing position and I believe that this ukulele has to be close to the perfect shape for a woman to play. Even with the pick-up installed, the instrument is truly light weight and the tone of this model is delightful and lends itself to playing 'whatever you like'. It has done an amazing job of making all my other instruments - even well loved older ones from Kanile'a - feel a little 'clunky'.

The Kanilea ukes are extraordinary and despite the expectation of not seeing the difference between k3 and andrine I liked the latter . But its like being in a Rolls Royce showroom and not knowing which car to pick . I would wish to have all the options . I would need 50 or more years of uke playing left to justify having such an instrument . So that takes me nicely to 160 th birthday . I simply am not worthy . But I love watching you play them .

as a piano tuner, I totally felt it when you said, "this ukulele is a piano.." the platinum is just.... velvet hot chocolate sound like soft rabbit snuggling up to my ears! definitely my fave. and also SO gorgeous. And there was another one, I think the Aldrine, where you showed the balance of the instrument and that is really cool. By the way, the platinum has a low G right? is that a nylon low G? I have a wound low G on my uke at the moment but i'm not enamoured of it tbh... wondering what the low G options are out there. your videos are awesome! thanks for all the great info and music! looking forward to tomorrow's :D

It's a Fremont Soloist flat wound Low G on the Platinum. Wound Low Gs work better with certain tonewoods than others. It could well be your uke doesn't carry the depth of a wound string in a pleasing way. I hear that a lot.

Hope you and yours are well . Do they offer any of these in baritone ? Do they offer a big baritone , 23" scale and bigger body . Like tenor guitar ,4 string

They do a 20' Baritone for all of the K models and the KPA model. The Baritone version of a KSR-T would have a different headstock and be called a KSC-B. The aldrine and platinum are Tenor only. They don't offer anything bigger than a Baritone. Try Ko'olau or Romero Creations for that kind of thing. 👍

I’m not sure the slotted headstock on the 2021 platinum is a cobra…I think it’s a crown slotted headstock. Great video and feature on Kanile’a ukulele. One model left out is the KCS series. They are beautiful and have the Kailua beach sand inlays, with a slotted crown headstock…super thin like the KTS, with gotoh stealth tuners as well.

I'm quite a heavy handed player... the uv gloss is easily the most resistant finish and it has a nice nature snare sound when you tap it rather than the thwack of most satin finishes

When you get into the "thousands" for some of the ukuleles, in my opinion, you aren't getting all that much more sound. It's just not "in" there.

Hi Alex. I believe that’s a Bird’s Eye Maple rosette, not Curly Maple on the Aldrine model. My favourite ukulele model from Kanile’a. The Gilbert Tuners are just awesome.
