Tell you why your channel is one of my favorites. It is because you not only post videos of good catches but also, you show your miss attempts, your break-offs, your troubles. You show real life as it happens even when your videos run long ( which to me is an advantage really) Keep'em coming, especially the long videos. Much love from your backyard. ( Homestead FL)

I’ve been watching your videos for about a week now and overall really enjoy them. The one thing I’ve noticed, however, is that you very much dislike buying fuel. Lol. So I have a few tips on how you can save some gas and money. 1. Try trimming your engine up a bit while underway. This will help because you will notice your speed and rpm increase therefore allowing you to let of the throttle a bit to maintain the same speed as before 2. Consider purchasing a gas caddy or just a few fuel cans and filling up on land. If you are concerned about the ethanol, (Which I wouldn’t be because how often you use your boat) just use a stabilizer, such as sta bil to counter balance the ethanol. Then if you are low after a while fill up at the dock. This is just my advice but heck, what do I known I’m only 14 but these are things I’ve learned over the years of boating/fishing from my father and neighbors. Great vid btw

Watching one of your previous videos I noticed a bag that you had that can store large fish do you recommend one planning on a swordfishing trip to the Keys in August. Will be staying in Big Pine. We've never swordfish before with the exception of a trip to Louisiana on a charter boat that kind of showed us the ropes of how to do it I've been aching to try it ever since on my own. We have a 25 foot Wellcraft. I think it's big enough to do the trick but we don't have an ice box big enough to hold the fish if we catch one. just looking for some advice. PS if you're interested in a swordfish and trip August the 6th give me a shout.

Is bringing it up off the bottom 70 ft normal practice ? I thought I remember watching a video of someone explaining how the weight bouncing up and down on the bottom from the boat created the noise needed for the Swordfish to come hunt. Lights + noise = curiosity. But I also understand not wanting to get stuck and loose such expensive lead. Keep posting these videos as I try to learn to shorten my learning curve when the new boat gets here lol Man, hopefully a Warsaw is next

When you see the fish is fight really hard go lighter on the retrieve so that you stop popping the leader, also using a light on the humps might help too.

yea, I will go back there very soon and be more loose with the drag. Mabye use a longer #250 mono shock chord. Like 100ft this time instead of 10-20ft.

10-20ft should be fine but maybe add a swivel to the shock mono. so it would be : braid,swivel,mono,swivel, then the rig.

Hey Heiko, I emailed you a couple links to some forecast sites a week or so ago. You might already have had them but wanted to see if you got them? Once you deploy your lead for deep dropping for swords then you head down the current with your engine around 7 knots for 500 feet. Then you stop and let your lead reach up to your boat. This saves tangles

Your channel is pretty bad ass I must admit, and the reason I’ve been asking a couple questions about your engine is because I have a mercury 150 that has been giving me problems left and right. It’s a 2001 and I know exactly what problems you had with yours. It’s pretty nerve-racking, but unfortunately, just like you, I would love to have a new engine but they’re so damn expensive right now. Oh and what do you think about using OptiMaxx oil over the penzoil? I read a ton of stuff saying the OptiMaxx oil is legit but then again the Pennzoil seems to work as well. Just curious,
@SouthFloridaFishingChannel7 жыл бұрын
yea man, the 2 strokes are great WHEN running. It sucks leaving the engine on when deep dropping. It's so loud and smoky, but turning it off could end in a disaster if it decides to not fire up again...

I'd also bring my Shimano Stradic 2500FK on my 7'6" medium heavy rod and tear up some cobia, snook, and redfish on the flats. I have a couple 8' Berkley Catfish medium heavy rods with some Shakespeare 7000 size reels and an Anvil Smash heavy rod with a huge trolling reel and 80 lb braid on it that would give some grouper and bug snapper a fight.

You dont need salt with Everglades seasoning cause it has salt in it allready. Its the best seasoning out there and is a complete seasoning, you may use pepper but no salt with Everglades, also you used way way to much Everglades, its pretty powerful so i bet that fish was awful, like eating pure salt rocks, maybe you were drunk or high, i know from experience that its best not to cook when drunk or high, stick to drive through or the microwave for those times, i once went camping and we all ate super raw steaks and burgers without knowing till i looked at the leftovers that morning, i puked for days
