***They no longer make these boats so she's a classic forever and ever.
I woke up with fishing for hogfish on my mind. I also know I have a episode tomorrow with best ever food review show so I want to catch some fish for the food review show. I really want it to be a great catch n cook episode for Sonny and his crew from the youtube channel Best Ever Food Review Show.
I watch a lot of how to catch hogfish videos on youtube in the morning. After a couple hours I have some new ideas on how to catch the hog fish and buy some hogfish rigs. PS: hogfish love shrimp! And so do snapper.
It doesn't look like it will storm so Dan and I run to the Key Largo patch reefs and put my how to catch hogfish tips to use. We catch a hogfish! Too bad it's too small or we would cook hogfish for the best ever food review show.
As we are fishing for hogfish I see a storm brewing. I can't help but think maybe we will get caught in a storm. I just hope it won't be a bad storm... but then I hear the lightning strikes. Oh boy... A bad storm is coming offshore to where we are fishing for hogfish.
I have fishing on my mind. We already have a tuna in the box from yesterday but I would like another sashimi fish. I would like a cero mackerel! So we start to troll the key largo patch reefs to find a mackerel, but then we end up caught in a storm!
The south florida fishing channel is about to get wet as we battle it out caught in a bad storm! Between the lightning strikes I think about where to catch some raw fishing to please Sonny and the crew from the best ever food review show. I want to present them with the best raw fish and the best food here in key largo. I love Florida and want to show them how good our tuna and mackerel sashimi is!
We do end up catching a mackerel so the catch and cook is looking good! The next day I meet Sonny and the team from Best Ever Food Review Show. I teach them a little on how to catch fish and then I clean some fish. It's not a catch clean and cook! I hope the are ready to eat the best raw fish.
We catch n cook fish at Dans house and then we catch snapper. Key largo has blessed us with raw snapper and other raw fish so it's time to eat! This has been one of the best ever fishing episodes! Make sure you follow Best Ever Food Review Show to watch the full catch and cook episode next month!
I hope you enjoyed this Caught in BAD storm! Fishing for Hogfish and Catch and Cook with Best Ever Food Review Show fishing episode on the South Florida Fishing Channel. I have some awesome fishing videos in production! Please leave a like and comment to show your support. Thank you!

Wow your excitement when you got hooked up with that first hog fish was so darn funny. You got excited then I got excited. Your hands started flailing about then my hands started swinging along. I'm still laughing. I love your enthusiasm! Yet again I felt like I was onboard with you guys. Made my day! I may have to pack up and move to Key Largo! Thanks for sharing

The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

Up off Tampa, we used shrimp to get through all the grunts etc etc. Feed those for about an hour then the hogs start biting. Also, bouncing the jig off the bottom creates a little puff of sand on the bottom, Usually what the hog fish is looking for. Rod in Hand always and be ready! Less likely to get rocked up. Porgy is amazing Sashimi. Nice Vid!

I will never forget an experience that I had in Tampa Bay one day when my parents and I went out fishing in the Bay with my Dad's friend and his wife on their boat. We were a few miles out, had been fishing for a few hours when we realized that we were dead center of three storms that were all converging on our exact point. My Dad's friend turned on his weather radio and there was a small craft advisory in effect on the Bay with reported strong lightning and 6-10 foot seas. My Dad grabbed the wheel, fired up the boat, nailed the throttle, and the boat damn near laid over on it's side because the trim had been altered for some reason and it was wrong. We stopped, adjusted it, and continued to hail ass back to shore. The boat was completely open with no shelter, so we HAD to haul ass. There was lightning and even a waterspout behind us. We watched the waterspout dance through the water behind us. It was really scary. I was only maybe 11 or 12 at the time and knew nothing of the water or the sea.

30 plus years ago, I worked at a seafood market in south Dade. I made 80 lbs of lobster head chum in preparation for a Key West trip. Using shrimp for bait, we caught 3 170 coolers full of hog and porgy. Thanks for the video. Brought back some great memories.

A little helpful hint. If you notice that small metal eyelet (hook holder) attached to rod about a few inches in front of the reel, it's a place to put your hooks, so that you don't have to use your rod guides or reel as a hook holder. Plus, it keeps the lures/hooks close to rod and away from getting caught on other things. I only mention this, because I notice you haven't been using it. Love the videos and always looking forward to watching. Tim, Hernando, Fl.

sometimes I use it but when I carry a lot of rods to the boat that's exactly where I hold them because that's where the rods balance out so I stopped using it. Unless it's a toadfish rod since that hides the tip

I really want one of those ToadFish rods, but idk if it'd be worth using one for freshwater...I was just visiting Brandon, Florida in June and my best friend that lives down there and I went out on the Gulf Queen charter boat out of Clearwater Beach and we were targeting Hogfish with shrimp. I caught one, but it wasn't very big. I also caught some yellowtail snapper, mangrove snapper, and a few lane snapper. We were between 50-60 miles out and I got sunburnt to shit, but I really enjoyed it. We used to go out on that boat every other weekend for grouper and red snapper, but I seriously hadn't been out on that boat since 2000. It really made me feel old. It had been damn near 20 years since I had gotten to go out on that charter boat. The fishing was REALLY slow compared to how it was when I was younger, but I still had alot of fun. I was hungover as shit, but I never hurled, even after all of those years, and it was 2-5 foot seas that day.

Ok Dude, first get a bigger bilge pump.. Replace or reseal floor hatches and make sure you have no other water getting into the bilge.. Next the water on your deck where it appears your floor is not self bailing.. I might look into a motor bracket like a Anderson that adds extra flotation to the rear of the boat.. Good luck and practice safety
@SouthFloridaFishingChannel
@SouthFloridaFishingChannel 5 жыл бұрын
my bilge is good! The standing water was just because my self bailing boat wasn't bailing due to a lot of weight being in the center and not the back. If the back floated more then the water really wouldn't bail out. There's no water getting into the bilge, that's why it's on the deck in the back

If it was a blonde girl named Katie yes, thats my friend she was swimming in the bllod trail behind her boyfriend who had a freshly speared Hogfish. And not sure on if they make noise but i would assume yes. Many fish make noise when hooked grunts are known for the little grunt they make, but I've heard other fish do similar noises when i pulled them out of the water

Peter Alkema I couldn’t remember when or who. I just remember hearing about it somewhere. I googled the hogfish and then read they make noise. one site claimed that’s what attracts the sharks. I’d bet on the blood tho.

When I fish for hogs, I usually try to keep all the lobster heads from the lobster season and you throw them in, the hogs will show up

Or invest 200 dollars in a Lyman melting pot, ladle, various molds, pins, and lead. Then never pay more then a couple cents a piece. Make any kind you want including jig heads.

West marine does price match many items. But yeah they are overpriced.

I don't find WM prices that bad. Other tackle shops around here are even more! WM also price matches. They do suck for buying lead thou I will say that but I have a lead melter and about 200 pounds of lead so i'll be doing that soon =)

@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel well it probably wasn't on the little stuff you bought but on almost everything else they overcharge

@@SouthFloridaFishingChannel You'll be amazed the money you'll save. They bend you over a barell on weight prices. Doesn't matter where you buy. Make your own deep drop weights as well and save a ton of money!!! I make no-roll sinkers for flounder fishing, barell sinkers, and im getting a large split shot mold for snook. Just make sure to do it outside!!
