It's good to show the kids the fire fighter in "regular" clothes and let the kids see him or her get into full gear and hear them breathing with the mask on. It may help the kid if he comes in contact with a fire fighter who is dressed like a monster in a panic situation. I have heard from fire fighter friends who have been in that bad situation how the kid wasn't quite as afraid of the FF. Good job and great video.

We once sent to a woman with a broken arm. When we got there she was dead. Turns out she most likely got awoken in the middle of the night because of chest pain but when she got out of bed she tripped on her bed sheets, fell and broke her arm. That’s why she called 911...the broken arm. Just as the Lt said...we were behind the 8 ball when we arrived.

You know what's really cool? To be one of these firefighters and know that for at least some of these kids, they will remember this day the rest of their lives. They may not even remember the individual firefighter himself but when they are 40, 50, 80 years old, they'll think back to the time in elementary school a firefighter crew visited them. Some of them will remember it so much they'll want to take up the profession.

Okay this may be a dumb question but why do you guys plug your trucks in at stations? Like what does plugging them in do?
@canderson91129 күн бұрын
There's a lot of electrical equipment on the truck that needs to be constantly charged (headsets if they're remote, flashlights, spare tool batteries, etc) and all that stuff can run down the battery of the truck unless there's a shoreline

It will depend on the fire department, but most fire departments are pretty friendly and will let you visit the fire station and take a tour. It is a good idea to check ahead of time, especially right now because there are some fire departments that do not allow visits due to COVID-19 precautions.
