The judge wanted to give him a whole life tariff, but couldn't because he was 9 days below adulthood when he committed the crimes. I think in the circumstances the judge did as well as he could and, as he said, in actual fact he probably will end up spending his life behind bars.

I felt physically sick when the details were read out. It will cost the tax payer millions to keep this evil murderer in custody. Warm cell, 3 meals a day, medical treatment, access to a gym etc. If ever there was an argument for capital punishment here it is. Its truly appalling on every level and we need to understand how, with so many red flags, this was allowed to happen.

I was not aware of this crime as I don’t watch tv but the day after I could not work out why three buses past by without stopping, they must have been around 5 people at the bus stop four were of a particular race, when the fourth but came I stood on the road and asked the bus driver why did the busses not stop, my question was met with a shoulder shrug, when I got home at the end of the day I watch the news and the bus incident made sense

Cant listen to all of this, as a father of girls it is sickening to even embrace it. I feel there are times when capital punishment is appropriate, even to save the taxpayer money locking him up all this time with almost certain special security, as I am sure many prisoners will be out to get him.

Respect, discipline and manners are learnt at home but clearly this doesn't seem to happen with many of today's youths who seem to think its OK to plunge a knife into another human being without a second thought.

I had to turn the court proceedings off, I was weeping and very angry. 52 years, so he'll be 70 when he gets out. 52 years in solitary is a long time. I know the wokes will have a go at me, but the death penalty should be reinstated for such crimes in my view.

Because although punishments should be equal to the crime, it should be to the state of life rather than the life itself. Think of it this way, biologically, we are made in nature, a relative perfection - the choices we make however are by our volition, to do with our consciousness - which can act against nature. I agree however something beyond prison should be reserved for people like this

@@bipolarminddroppings nobody cares about remose, but peoples futures. there's alot of variables in a 52 year sentence but this guy will be anything BUT average cost. he will be all drama all the time. like he was in court. at the most conservative guesstimate i can make, he'll cost us 2.6 million is inflation doesnt go up, prison costs dont go up AND he behaves PERFECTLY in general population without being targeted. so clearly the 2.6 mill is a pipedream, too conservative a guess. so i reckon i'll start at around 5-10 mill to lock this guy up for 52 years. maybe 10-15 is the high range. you can change so many futures with just 2.6 mill. let alone 10-15. i'd rather put it towards other peoples futures, not denying this one who has already forsaken his.

It's what's known as the law. We none of us like it, and maybe it will be changed, but the judge could only go by the law as it exists now. He said he would prefer to give a whole life order ('life without parole' is American), but the law prevented it, so he gave the maximum possible. He added that it seems likely that he will end up spending his life behind bars.

Okay so I'm from the state so I'm not going to understand British law that much if at all, can someone please explain to me why this guy can take the entire lives away from three children and disrupt and traumatize Elias of others but cannot serve a life sentence? If you take someone's life their entire life then to me you forfeit your own whether it's your life gets ended, or you spend the rest of it behind bars.

The Judge explained so in this video. As he was under 18 at the time of the offences. The law does not allow him to impose a whole life term on him. The same would have applied had he been 18. The age for imposing a whole life term I believe is 21.
