The judge wanted to give him a whole life tariff, but couldn't because he was 9 days below adulthood when he committed the crimes. I think in the circumstances the judge did as well as he could and, as he said, in actual fact he probably will end up spending his life behind bars.

I felt physically sick when the details were read out. It will cost the tax payer millions to keep this evil murderer in custody. Warm cell, 3 meals a day, medical treatment, access to a gym etc. If ever there was an argument for capital punishment here it is. Its truly appalling on every level and we need to understand how, with so many red flags, this was allowed to happen.

How can parents live with a monster like this and not see nothing, hear nothing ,and say nothing. He was also on the radar with the authorities yet nothing was done. Respect, discipline and manners are learnt at home but clearly this doesn't seem to happen with many of today's youths who seem to think its OK to plunge a knife into another human being without a second thought.

Because although punishments should be equal to the crime, it should be to the state of life rather than the life itself. Think of it this way, biologically, we are made in nature, a relative perfection - the choices we make however are by our volition, to do with our consciousness - which can act against nature. I agree however something beyond prison should be reserved for people like this

@@bipolarminddroppings nobody cares about remose, but peoples futures. there's alot of variables in a 52 year sentence but this guy will be anything BUT average cost. he will be all drama all the time. like he was in court. at the most conservative guesstimate i can make, he'll cost us 2.6 million is inflation doesnt go up, prison costs dont go up AND he behaves PERFECTLY in general population without being targeted. so clearly the 2.6 mill is a pipedream, too conservative a guess. so i reckon i'll start at around 5-10 mill to lock this guy up for 52 years. maybe 10-15 is the high range. you can change so many futures with just 2.6 mill. let alone 10-15. i'd rather put it towards other peoples futures, not denying this one who has already forsaken his.

It's what's known as the law. We none of us like it, and maybe it will be changed, but the judge could only go by the law as it exists now. He said he would prefer to give a whole life order ('life without parole' is American), but the law prevented it, so he gave the maximum possible. He added that it seems likely that he will end up spending his life behind bars.

The Judge explained so in this video. As he was under 18 at the time of the offences. The law does not allow him to impose a whole life term on him. The same would have applied had he been 18. The age for imposing a whole life term I believe is 21.

Revenge would have been a life sentence or an eye for an eye.

Depending of his age. If he was over 18 he would get a full life term. Because this guy was under 18 when he commited the crime he can't be given a full life term.
