I love this Arcade as does my Grandaughter..We were there on Saturday.20/4/24...it is mesmerising and like a time warp..it has alovely time warp smell that evokes visions inyour head of the owners of the antiques and bric a brac.that surround this gem of a building..I will say hello to Annie and her baby next time..cant wait to tell my Grandaughter xx

The story resembles the story of The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. Although that story has a kind of happy end. The girl is dead, but was carried by her loving dead grandmother to heaven. And there was no baby. But there were sticks. That story was published in 1846. In that time it was probably not so uncommon for poor people to freeze to death. And it was a great video, especially the story about the research you did.

I absolutely love local history, ghost stories and the royal arcade but I had never heard Annie's story. Thank you so much for researching this, I'll be sure to think of her and her baby whenever I visit the royal arcade

I didn`t know this tale. Thank you for researching it. As a Sandgrounder (though not living in Southport at the moment), I am fascinated with its history and strange tales. I shall keep this one in mind and bring it up with anyone connected with Southport. Perhaps there is someone out there who knows something more.

Yeahhh itd a bit dubious as to if it happened or not , but it is an interesting story , and the shop keeper has a photograph of what looks like a lady holding a child upstairs , There was also an investigation done a few months back , the video is here on KZbin

Absolute brilliant! Only just found you and the channel, subscribed! I love the idea of this story and when you tell the story, I believed it could be true despite the efforts of you and others to find concrete evidence! I can not help but think about all who have gone before us and not have a sense that spirits can live on. I am sure their was an "Annie", I guess we just haven't found her!

Some years ago as I was leaving the arcade, I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking round to see who it was, I found that there was nobody behind me who would have been near enough to touch me. I’m glad I saw your video, because I have often pondered about this, finding no evidence of a haunting there.
