I love this guy! Have seen him more times than I can count. To add to his story, he actually brought Jon Bon Jovi to one of the Jukes' gigs at Valley Forge Music Fair outside Philadelphia back when Jon was still a teenager. Jon had long silky hair and the widest smile I'd ever seen, and he was on stage with the band. He played maybe 2 of his own songs, and the rest Jukes songs. The audience was split between Baby Boomers there to see Southside, and teenaged girls there to see Jon. (I was in the former category.)

Johnny is someone I dug from jump street. His first two albums are still killers. His voice was great for what he was singing and I wanted to hear more of his harp playing. There are a few performers that I want to support and hope their careers keep going, Al Kooper and Peter Wolf are two who immediately come to mind, but Johnny is at the top of my list. This is an intelligent and well conducted interview.

One of the greatest bands in the history of music and widely overlooked by people too programmed by mainstream music.

Seen Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes well over 100 times. Many different versions of the Asbury Jukes but the one thing that stayed the same is Southside Johnny. If they do put him on the curb when he passes, that street better be renamed Southside Johnny Way.

I think you’re fantastic, Mr. Lyon! ❤️ You can out-sing and out perform Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi any day of the week.

I always say, one of his gigs is the best fun you can have with your clothes on.... and in a lot of cases, better than taking your clothes off! Always come out with a HUGE grin. Why he isn't the biggest star I just don't know.

A problem with Southside Johnny is that they were, are a live performance band. They are the poster child for live performing. You can't get the energy and how they connected with an audience in the studio. Southside Johnny & and the Asbury Juke are way underrated. The other problem was the switching of record labels so much. They basically had to start over regain the momentum back each time. I love listening to these guys.

Man he nailed this interview. He has more talent than Bon Jovi and Bruce in my opinion. His voice is real as well as his music. Being from Wall i wont hold that he was from Neptune!!! Bad ass music. I hope i can see him play one day. Legend.

I was born in Passaic New Jersey in 1960. I was always a bigger fan of Johnny than Bruce Springsteen. Johnny has soul and is more down to earth and intelligent. The Springsteen fans were always the tough Italian guys who drove Camaros and Firebirds. Springsteen fans were douche bags. Johnny fans were real musicians.
