On the 26th June 2018, Charles Dickens Primary School exhibited a video installation of our project Southwark UNtold at the Tate Modern, London.
Southwark UNtold is about stories, voices and reflections. Led by children in Year 5, Southwark UNtold captures the imaginations, dreams and fears of a generation of Young Londoners to whom, Southwark, is always moving, always changing but most importantly, always theirs.
Early on, the children decided they wanted to create a piece of work that captured each of their thoughts about Southwark. They were also keen to choose their materials, techniques and designs. Working with our Artists in Residence, the children led the call to create a procession through Southwark, and the resulting video enacts their journey from our school to the Tate Modern.
This was a collaboration with People Empowering People - an organisation empowering young people and building strong communites in South London. @pempeople
