What a happy surprise!!!!! Taking us with you to the zoo. The giraffes were awesome and the baby one was so cute. Yes, I agree with you, wish the animals could have lots more open space instead of being so confined to such a small area. Thanks for sharing this outing with us.

I know zoos are not great for animals whatsoever, but I love seeing animals up close. I'm sure you were super excited to see those giraffes! They are such beautiful creatures :)

I disagree - yeah there are lots of bad zoos that don't follow correct procedures/policies etc but to say zoos are no good whatsoever is a very uneducated comment to make. Zoos save endangered species, they have breeding programs to prevent extinction. They are protected from poachers, habitat loss, predators etc. Zoos educate the public, this motivates people to protect the animals and their environments. You should perhaps find an accredited zoo and visit, then you would see what a fantastic job they're doing for this world!

I love animals. However, I'd never give my money to an establishment like a zoo, where animals cannot live natural lives. :( Seeing them caged..it just feels so wrong. Regardless, it looks like you had fun and that was the point! Animals make everyone happy. :)

I know what you mean. I hadn't been in so long I forgot just how much it bothered me too
@RachelDex10 жыл бұрын
Many animals cannot live natural lives out in the wild either due to poachers, habitat loss, starvation etc. Zoos raise animals that have been abandoned for whatever reason and release them back into the wild later. Zoos are actively involved in conservation. Animals that can't be released are used for breeding programs which help to prevent extinction. Many penguins are in captivity for example, and that's due to global warming - caused by man! There will always be pro's and cons but to say zoos are wrong is just narrow minded.

Rachel B I believe the animal slaughtering industries (for consumption, clothing, etc) are just as bad as using wild animals for entertainment. Such a shame that these things go on. My belief that zoos are wrong is not narrow minded in the least. There is a synergistic relationship taking place here. For example, you mentioned habitat loss. *The world eating meat is the largest contributor to these animals ecosystems being destroyed.* I can only hope that you are a vegan, because everything that you have said would be hypocritical otherwise.

porcelaindolli3 It is very narrow minded. If zoos didn't exist, this planet would be in a lot of trouble. and Yes i am a meat eater and proud to be, but i eat pork, beef, chicken, lamb etc - correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think they're on the extinction list are they? Black rhinos, snow leopard, malayan tiger, indian elephants and a crap load more ARE! The conservation/breeding programs that are happening within zoos are working towards stopping the extinction of such species.
@porcelaindolli310 жыл бұрын
Rachel B Rachel, you should not be proud to eat meat, but make exclamations of habitat loss and animal extinction. Why are you concerned about extinction of only a select species, but you are okay with man breeding other animals solely for the purpose of food? You are trying to ride two saddles at once, here. One cannot be compassionate toward one species but eat another. Please check out Freelee the Banana Girl on how to transition to veganism. You will be saving the planet, and the animals. It is also imperative that you watch the documentary titled EARTHLINGS. PS- Nice kitty in the avatar, it must be very glad you chose not to put it on your plate.
