Boss, your information is partially wrong. 2.5% interest will be paid semi annually, accumulation is not allowed, Interest will not taxed under capital gains, it is taxed under income form other source head. Pls don't provide wrong information to general public.

One of the essential characteristics of good investment is entry ,exit choice be with investors. In SGB exit point is governed by scheme ,in the sense , capital gains exemption is available only on predetermined exit date. What if the price of gold is unfavourable on exit date ? The better way would have been minimum period specified for tax benefits with option to hold beyond that date. If the price is favourable on exit date , I give thumbs up to it, considering yearly interest, capital gains exemption which are not available in gold bees .

Exit point is with the investor , if you have purchased in demat form. If the current price is nearing to your purchase price , you can simply sell in the market. That is why it is also available in demat form

In chit scheme also you need to pay gst. Thing is for chit you dont need to pay wastage based on scheme. But you will buy 22 carat gold but SGB is 24 carat gold.

Buy in demat, no certificate. Will be in holdings in your demat account. You can only sell from your account and money will credit in your registered bank only. Anyway cannot sell for 5 years even by you.
