In this video we put the Sovereign Mark 2 against 2 Original Sovereigns.
The Sovereign A is visually different to the original and is equipped with 2 Quantum Torpedo launchers.
How will it do against 2 Enterprise E's?

Single vs multiple doesn't scale linearly- you have multiple vectors for fire to be coming in while being a single target to be focused on. Even when the multiple ships can be focused down in a single volley, the rest of the swarm will be doing considerable damage in the interim. (And when the multis can hang in a firefight for a while, its a really rough day. I mean, three BoPs took down a Wartime Galaxy - sure, it was defending the fleeing C, and could have survived by fleeing, but the dragdown fight was not in the Ent-D's favor.) Honestly, surprised you lasted as long as you did; kudos.

It's been a long time since I've seen a good Sovereign battle. This tells me two things: the original Sovereign was no pushover, and the MK2 would've been a good update. Now, I would try the Nemesis E-E vs MK2 and compare them. That would be s spectacle.

Wow I do like the Sovereign MK2 , the lines and style... Yes in Nemesis they used up all the torpedoes and Data says we have drained the phaser banks.. eeh... now I know why the ramming speed.. lol.. the Sovereign A.. wow that could have been in Picard.. hmmm.. I would say so too against 2 maybe 1 at most.. that was close.. but Brex's voice changes and I knew... '' hold on!'' lol.. still great job Captain.. Still love the MK2 version.. and the impulse looks just like the Enterprise G.. hmmm I wonder!!!😊🖖

The fact the Enterprise went through it's compliment of torpedos in Nemesis was just bad writing. Same with it's phasers being exhausted. The writers just wanted to be able to crash the ship. The E was built for a protracted war, and a few minute battle wasn't a war.

If you take into account that they were in a peacetime footing and it may have looked like a few minutes for us but could have been over an hour in movie time. It is within the realm of possibility.

In essence...yes. Terrible, just like the idea of a Mary Sue ship like the Scimitar. But then again...they were ferrying senior officers to their marriage, the trip to Romulus wasn't really on their list. But THEN again...why is the Enterprise the ship to be sent? It was the closest, doesn't mean it was the only one in range. Mehh...the battle scenes were nice, but Nemesis really had issues.

Half agree- the torp compliment could've been exhausted reasonably. We saw the Ent-E drop a dozen torps (twice) within the span of 5-6 seconds during Bassen Rift. With, say, 300 torps of various types, that's 25 volleys. Given how much of the time they were just trying to find a target (firing blindly), and that the Scimitar was a higher weight class- and maybe, just maybe, they decided to shield the ever loving crap out of it, (you make a big target, give it a big shield) - and its conceivable that the misses and OP nature of the ship could outlast the compliment of torpedoes. Throw in that Torps are (AFAIK) better for unshielded targets- the Scim didn't lose shields during the fight proper if I remember correctly- and there ya go... (Honestly, would be refreshing to see a Trek ship going all out against an existential threat, instead of firing a couple of phaser blasts against a Borg cube... Looking at you, Melbourne.) The phasers being exhausted? I do disagree with that. We know emitters have a usage life- but that they didn't have replacements on hand seems unlikely. Insofar as expecting any Starship, even the Sovereign, to be self-sufficient for "a protracted war", that's unrealistic. Fleet tenders exist for reasons, rearming being a primary one. 300 torps would be sufficient for most battles, or even a few in a row- but the ammo ship over there would be getting real busy once the fleet stood down after a battle.

@@Sephiroth144 The Enterprise D carried 250 photons for two launchers. The E, which is a dedicated warship should have more. As for my comment on a protracted battle, the Defiant was able to last significantly longer with less in their battles with the Dominion. Voyager was able to survive 7 years away from a space station for resupply or repair. A ship over twice the size of Voyager and many times larger than the Defiant, which is a warship in all but name should have done significantly better.

@@PKPhoenix83 Voyager also had how many shuttlecraft? Let's be real, that one got a little too much phlebotinum after the second season. The Defiant got resupplied on the regular- it didn't have that much storage space. The D, on the other hand, did have a lot more internal space than the E. The Akira-class torp compliment was around 400- of course, its a dedicated torpedo platform. 300 seems reasonable for a Sovererign class. Though, the phasers power (not usage) was at 4%; it wasn't that they were "used up", but they weren't getting enough power. After all, the ship needs to have power for all the other systems too. (Of course, Geordi could probably have shifted some around- but given that the Scim's shields were still about 70%, the E's were essentially down, and everything thus far hadn't broken thru, even another full barrage was probably pointless) Honestly, ramming the ship makes more sense now that I think about it- could the Scimitar even make a (stable) warp bubble with the Enterprise sticking out in front like that? And worst case, the E could even detonate its warp core while the ships were stuck together. Some of the damage/inoperability of tactical systems better shows/explained (torpedo tubes being targeted, seeing hull damage along the phaser strips), but it wasn't any worse than other Trek movie space battles. (Seriously, Kirk sees a ship that plainly lies get into knife distance, raises shields, and still sits there going "duh" until the Reliant actually locks phasers...? C'mon man.)

If you watch the battle you will see that a lot of their torpedoes did definitely miss. I really dig this Mark 2 of the Sovereign class. Yup in First Contact when Picard ordered Worf to fire at the Borg Sphere they fired 4 quantum torpedoes. I agree that 2 regular Sovereign's was a bit much.

Starfleet likes to live in denial about themselves being a military. They like to keep their ships and fleet less combat effective on principle until they get caught up in a conflict then they struggle to field combat effective ships then they respond by prototyping great ships and tactical systems only to mothball it once they barely survive the wars and battles. They once bought an entire war machine planet that created drones just like you said and the tech constantly adapted and updated to face threats and once they got it they mothballed and studied it. The treaty of Algeron and Cardassian treaty pre DS9 shows that Starfleet and the Federation would rather weaken itself in the name of ideals cause its easy to be a saint in paradise. As long as all the troubles stay out on the Frontier.

Tell me something...why o why havent anyone ever in all of star trek thought of point defence guns or phazers to shoot down incoming torpedos except in the end of first JJ verse movie. Every time some torpedos are launched at a ship and every one just holds on and absorbs the shots while it depletes the shield or severly damages the ships. No one thinks...o well...there bright glowing object heading straight for us...i wonder how many people its going to kill this time. Honestly...all star trek gunners should be fired and you'd think ghat the ships being so advanched the ships computers would automaticly target the incoming torpedos. so...what the f...
