Your theory about military competition driving technology has been borne out in history. The endless petty conflicts in Europe helped drive firearms technology from the 1500s on. With so many competing factions, military technology rapidly changed as did tactics and strategy. Even smaller powers, like Sweden under Gustavus Adolphus, could temporarily gain an upper hand by innovation in weaponry and tactics. Meanwhile, in East Asia, where a hegemonic China more or less dominated the scene (a simplification but mostly true), technology stagnated in that key period between 1492-1800. So by the time the European powers moved their gaze to China, Japan and Korea in the 1820s-40s, Europe was a couple centuries ahead in weapons technology.

That's a comprehensive pasting. The Sovereign is a death machine. Thanks for redoing it! :)

You’re welcome and I’m surprised it went so fast lol

My counter to the argument that a Sovereign class would have had a much easier time in the Delta Quadrant than an Intrepid class is that a Sovereign class is a much bigger threat. As the Sovereign moved through the Delta Quadrant the aliens they encountered would have responded to them as such. Voyager likely benefited from being a relatively small ship. Its armaments were advanced, but limited. No need to mobilize a fleet to counter Voyager as it approached the border. But a full fledged battleship like the Sovereign? Same thing with a Borg Cube. Even if you've never encountered the Borg before, if you see a Cube approaching your territory you ready your defense forces - just in case. But a lone Borg Probe? On face value, seemingly not much of a threat.

Also more ship to maintain and repair. Easier to get materials for a smaller ship than a much larger one.

Who needs materials when you have infinite torpedoes?

You do a great job of spreading out the damage and targeting, while using your weapons to their maximum effect. I have to say that, since I see other places where they use Bridge Commander, but they hardly use what they're flying to its maximum effect like you do, as you've taken out some enemies with far more underpowered ships than others have.

Love the battle. That is my 2nd favorite class of ship in Star Trek

I have an idea. I think everytime you do a VS matchup you need to do it in both Kobiyashi Maru and BC Remastered. That way we can talk about and debate the different outcomes, or lack of different outcomes. sound good?

That sounds interesting 🧐

Should have lost the ship. LOL. I think the canon Intrepid is a bit tougher than that.
