I was driving it and the track tension was within limits. It was my misread as a driver that I turned too steeply on a soft spot. It looked more solid to me than it turned out to be. No tracked vehicle is immune to stupidity 😁

We once marched from the tank range back to the brigade on a perfect March friday. We were all so anxious to get our gear squared away and ourselves washed up that we barely even ate lunch. 2LT had to scream us back to eat our fill on the barracks building yard. It was potato casserole or Jansson casserole IIRC... We ate, double timed on taking care of personal hygiene, gear storage prep and room cleaning before we were let off on weekend leave. We were told we'd get out as soon as EVERYONE and EVERYTHING cleared inspection. Best. Day. Ever.

As i recall, the fuel cells were near or inside the rear passenger doors, which, when hit by a round from an M1A1 or a Bradley, could ignite and force the crew and pax to bail out through fire. Or am I wrong? Still looks like a blast to ride.
@Reactordrone3 жыл бұрын
You can always jump out through the top hatches but, yes, the rear doors are also fuel tanks. Possibly worse is that the space between the seats inside the rear is also a fuel tank so you're kind of sitting with your back against a tank.

You can drop a properly tensioned track. If enough dirt gets on the track in a sharp turn on loose surface the frontmost roadwheel will just ride it out of the track like a ramp and because the suspension on that wheel is compressing that can happen no matter the track tension.
