Not exactly. The taliban is only one of many tribes that made up the Mujahideen. Some of the tribes fought with the US during the invasion.

The monarchy was a blessing for Afghanistan as it brought stability to the country. The one who controlled Kabul controlled the entire nation. The problem that came with the Nationalistic Daoud regime was that it was overtly Pashtun in character, and Afghanistan being an ethnically divided nation with the Uzbeks, the Hazaras, the Balochi people, and the Tajiks who speak the Persian dialect, got extremely frustrated under his rule. Also, President Daoud's dream of creating a larger Pakhtoonistan backfired! It made social cracks within Afghan society for the reasons mentioned above. Afghani identity crisis led to many problems, which only got more complex with the Soviet intervention and Afghan Communist takeover in the late 1970s.

Daoud Khan was not a Pashtun nationalist the Nadir Khan Dynasty were Persian speaking. They were AFGHAN nationalists, according to 1964 constitution of Afghanistan, the word 'Afghan' shall apply to each individual of the nation. Hence there are no ethnically motivated uprisings in Afghanistan, only Islamist radical ISI sponsors that hailed from the main 3 groupings of people, Pashtuns (Ghiljis mostly) Tajiks (Panjshiri) and Uzbeks. Many Tajiks and Uzbeks don't recognise the Durand line.

That's why it has only failed as a state. This is written on by Khan Wali Khan 'Facts are Sacred' written in two prison spells under dictatorships Zulfiqar Bhutto and Ayub Khan

Is Afghanistan a Graveyard of empires ??? No, not really as Persian, Macedonians, Umayyad Caliphate held onto Afghanistan for long and didn't fall cause of that Persians Sikhs and British had even managed to annex loads of Afghanistan's land. Even British Empire didn't fall after their retreat in 1842. In fact in 1878 British actually succeeded and installed their puppet King that dynasty stayed till the Soviet came in 1979. Nor did the cause of the fall of USSR's collapse was because of Afghanistan lol... Last but not least did the USA collapse too ??? Its funny when stupid people make this claim without knowing any facts.

You are listing empires that ruled a certain geographic area for what point? There were no Afghans at the time of Alexander. There were however Afghans at the time of the Mongols whom Afghans have defeated and repelled, even protecting India from the Mongol invasion. Even the muslim Mongols; Mughals were decimated by Afghans. Sikhs never came to Afghanistan, it is not funny but pathetic to read desperate lies on history by a panicked person hoping the reader trusts whatever is blirted out. Sikhs are from India, in what mental state do you suppose they rule over Central Asia? Punjabi Indians have never colonised anyone on earth and have never had an empire in it's entire history as a people group. A people who Afghans plundered and massacred in the tens of thousands. Such an odd person. The Nadir Khan Dynasty was not a puppet of the British, ask Wazir Akbar Khan who slaughtered the British and their Raj subjects and massacred the army of Sir Elphinstone.

Also Persians ruled over Afghans and completely subjugated them. Why do you think Persian/Dari is spoken in Afghanistan too. Every empire had taken over Afghans and carved their share. In fact it was a province of Persian Empire... Umayyad Caliphate came and ruled over Afghans.How the hell did you think Afghans converted to Islam from Buddhism. I don't know what the hell have you been reading and learning And about Mongols Genghis Khan conquered Afghanistan. So did Timur, better known as Tamerlane, and his descendant Babur. The modern map of Afghanistan is there just cause it acted as a buffer state between Soviets and British. British were the ones who came and installed their puppet King under which Afghans lived till Soviet invasion. Try to read a real history book sometime rather than some self written bullshit history.

The Timurids never conquered the tribes [Afghans] of the Solomon Mountains which is the actual Pashtun homeland. The Sikhs at the area of Bannu feared the local warrior Ghazi Dilasa Khan [quoted by English administrator Sir Herbert Edwardes] and were defeated and chased out by small agricultural Pashtun tribes like the 'Dawari'. In Nowshera the Sikhs were nearly defeated by Pashtuns but were saved thanks to mercenaries given from Britain [from a Book of Ranjit Singh]. It frustrated how they couldn't attain victories no matter how many Napoleonic War veterans were brought over and paid to fight the Afghans. British eventually decided to stop sponsoring the Sikhs when they decided it was time to eat up Punjab in 1849. Google 'Vadda Ghalughara' lmao. The top General Hari Singh Nalwa died when he came to Jamrud.

We shouldnt judge them harshly this is the Mujahadeen fighting to drive out something that was foriegn to them it contradicted theyre way of life it ended up in bloody civil war for power where the Taliban won. And became a safe haven for terrorist groups. I wouldnt call life the socialist state a good one but surely it must have been better than all of.... this.
