@JoshFisher567 Жыл бұрын
@@jhvhest They also mentioned SD card only but I was told that Octapi works via the micro USB cable so you aren't limited to just the SD card. Is this true? If not that may be a deal breaker for me. I read about the Z axis calibration issue (for some people, not all) but seems extremely easy to check and manually adjust if the auto alignment doesn't work so I know to check for it also so that it doesn't hurt. Lastly, the bearings are noisy and can produce a lot of heat but that can be fixed by buying some better bearings and using some super lube. As long as you don't buy 10 dollar bearings off Amazon because hey are the same, or worse, quality wise as the stock bearings.

Nice video as always. For z-align: On the mk3s the cable is much lower, so the x/z top out on left and right simultainly, aligning z-hight. On the SV-06 the cable of the printheads top out - so no alignment left and right at all. To fix it, you simply might add clamps to the left and right z-rods at the top, so the x/z joints top out before the cable does. Two other cons in comparison to the mk3s+: - No filament autoload (I realy like the internal filament sensor of the mk3s+) - No MMU-Support (but you might add Klipper and Enraged Rabit Carot Feeder) As Creality and Sovol share a lot, support for the Sonic Pad would be fantastic. It would help to compensate the two cons I mentioned.

Hi Aurora Tech. I noticed that when you guys assembled the printer forgot to guide the extruder cables through the blue tabs on the mounting bracket. I saw the cables touching on the top of the frame while doing the Z alignment. Maybe that threw the alignment off and that's why you where getting one side lower or higher than the other one. I just checked and the assembly instructions show the cable routed through those two blue tabs. Due to how the extruder was designed this seems like a critical step to avoid obstruction of movement by the extruder cables. Love your channel by the way. Very detailed and professional reviews, you guys should have more subscribers.

To make sure bed leveling is enabled (if you plan to use it) for Marlin it's a good idea to put M420 S1 into the starting G-code somewhere after G28. Most printers are set up to turn bed leveling compensation off when homing with G28, although some may choose to enable leveling after G28. The only way to know whether your printer has this behavior is to load or create a valid mesh, then send G28 followed by M420 V to see whether leveling has been automatically enabled. For the most part the printer seems like a very good value and quality. The main problems can be solved by a firmware upgrade, especially by enabling automatic Z alignment that uses the probe to measure the bed distance at each side instead of homing to the top, and also enabling the Z Probe Offset Wizard.

The z-axis bed leveling was reported in an issue with the creality board they basically copied because it doesn't have separate z-axis drivers, just two separate connectors. Someone mentioned that in a review of the creality 2.4.7 board and almost off by the same amount which I was looking to get for my SV03, but I would rather have two different drivers for z, and I want the option to use dual extruders. I am looking at different boards, like makerbase and the mellow fly, which are very similar. chances are they used that screen because it is well supported in Marlin, and everyone has issues with the proprietary drivers used in the color screens. Plus it was an off-the-shelf component. Anyway, not the first review of yours I have seen but I really do like them. :)

I can't shake the thought that Sovol's hardware engineers, manufacturing staff, and material buyers are all really crafty, skilled people. To have so few hardware issues when they took a $1000 printer, made a couple interesting improvements, and then sold it as a $300 printer...that's excellent (never mind the several other very good printers they've made). If I ever sold, broke, or otherwise gave up on my heavily modified Ender 3, I would absolutely consider an SV06 to take its place as the "do everything surprisingly well" printer in my inventory.
@mikeb15962 жыл бұрын
I've been using my SV06 for over a month, and while it's a decent cheap printer, it is no where near a Prusa in terms of quality. The bed is horribly warped and not adjustable. One of my z lead screws came bent and I can see it wobble when I raise the z axis. Cheap stepper motors get really hot if you try printing fast. I had to order new bearings because the stock ones make a crunch noise out of the box, even when lubed. That said, for the price, it's not bad. It is very easy to take the print head off and change parts, and nozzles are very easy to change because the heat block is secured with screws keeping it from spinning
@JoshFisher567 Жыл бұрын
@@mikeb1596 Did you have any heat issues after replacing the bearings? I've read that the bearings are the main issue is not only because of heat but noise also but apparently (from what I've read and seen on KZbin), replacing the bearings and adding some lubricant resolves those issues for the most part.Since I know the z axis leveling doesn't work that will be the first thing I do manually in case it doesn't line up so not an issue for me (mostly because I'm aware of it). Personally, I would have returned it if the bed was warped and the screws were messed up as I haven't really read that elsewhere. A few people had the bed warping issue but were returned or SOVOL sent them a replacement bed. At the same time I e read SOVOL support can be "fun" to deal with also. I was debating between this and the ELEGOO Neptune 3 Pro or Plus but settled on this due to more upgrade options and a higher printing temperature. That and ELEGOO is only shipping directly through their website and they are out of stock and I do t trust their "expected" shipping date either. That, and it's less upgradable. I'm also eyeballing the plus for the extra size and nicer touch screen although the touch screen isn't a big deal to me but it's a plus I've read that misum bearings are the best but someone recommended vcb as they are half the costs of the misum for 12 bearings (30 dollars US) and was advised not to order the 10 to 15 dollar bearings off Amazon as they are just as bad as the stock bearings. Lastly, the reviewer mentioned no USB but I read there are zero issues hooking up a raspberry pi with octapi using the micro USB port next to the SD card slot. If this is true and USB micro can't work with a octapi that's a deal breaker for me because they place those SD cards in terrible places so I want to avoid being limited to SD cards only. Thanks in advance for any input you may have, especially after having it for a few months to get a better take on it.

First of all, let me just thank you for you content. I've learned so much watching your videos. I have a Prusa Mk3s+. It was great for it's time but it's very expensive and took me over four days to build. The gummy bears didn't help. Then the MMU2S was faulty. I believe a Creality or this Sovol are good alternates to Prusa, IMHO. I got the X1Carbon/AMS and I no longer use my Prusa, I'm waiting for Prusa to implement LIDAR and come up with a Mk3S+ conversion to a Mk 4 kit. The auto-bed leveling is great however, the Z offset leveling going from PLA to PETG is problematic, so I would only do PLA on my PRUSA. With my X1 Carbon, I've printed PLA, PETG, and TPU without issue. IMHO, it is by far the best affordable printer on the market. I'm also consider the SOVOL v04 IDEX. I'm waiting on the next phase of 3D printers which will implement LIDAR as Bambulabs has done.
@SvRider512 Жыл бұрын
That would be great if what Bambu was actually using on their printers was Lidar.

Print quality can only be judged by shining the light from the top down across the sides. Differences in the layers then show up as shadows between the layers. Shining the light from the side to view the side will hide all the layer quality issues. Almost all printer reviews light the side from the side and hide the actual layer problems. Low cost printers have poor quality fans and bearings that will fail after a few prints. If you place no value on your time, and you enjoy repairing printers and fixing issues, buy a low cost printer. If you just want to make 3D prints, buy the Prusa. It uses the highest quality Misumi bearings and high quality motors. The printer just works. I started using a low cost printer and then bought a second low cost printer as the first would fail frequently. I recently bought the Prusa and it just works.
