Kwaito was never dead but the people who promote music defected from Kwaito mainly because not everyone could make a Kwaito hit, so they started promoting the easier genre House, if you look at Hip Hop in SA it's still the same as Kwaito and more and more getting back to Kwaito. Kwaito was special in the sense that it really explained and described our lifes as we were but not everyone made hits only special musicians lifted the genre so that prompted others who couldn't do Kwaito fluently like M'du and others to do easier genres like house, everyone can do a house track even in one day. Also the marketing team of guys like M'du were not very powerful to move with times and promote i Kwaito even more as we came into the early 2000s
