I am so grateful for the way in which you explain things Ivan, I am a first time gardener and have wondered whether it is worth while trying again next year, this video and your last one has set my mind at ease and I will carry on trying. I did harvest a few onions and I have 6 tomato plants that have loads of fruit on them. I discovered that the 6 Bell pepper plants that have grown beautifully are in fact chilli plants 😂😂, my neighbours will be happy, the plant are laden. Anyway excuse my waffling, again thank you so much, I look forward to your daily videos. Take care.

Loved hearing the bells ringing in the background. I've got to set up some netting for my plants before I get little plants growing. Grasshoppers have been horrible here this year and I have holes in all my plants. I took off a lot of the damaged leaves last night. Yours look so healthy under the netting.

Interesting & as always, very informative, my potatoes are in a very big container, think I put them in around early May, hope they're ok with all the rain, today is the first day without rain. I harvested yet another load of beans today, makes me happy lol, my broccoli is actually getting heads on now. Looking forward to seeing your potato harvest from the big container , it's so satisfying isn't it ...

I’m thinking of trying to grow peas in containers in the greenhouse, starting this week. It will be interesting to see if I do better with those than I have with most of my other container attempts this year. I didn’t know you had a cooking channel too. I’ll be very interested in your chutney recipe! Although my greenhouse tomatoes are ripening fast, the outdoor plants were planted late and we just have a few small green ones so far, so I suspect we’ll have mostly green ones left at the end of the season. I was lifting second early potatoes today. They have performed well despite the weather. We’ve been eating beetroot (Bolthardy) for the last two weeks already. Some are very large this year, presumably because of the rain, but they are still sweet and soft. There’s more to come from later sowings. Carrots are good too, but slugs have been attacking a few and some others are starting to run to seed, so I think it’s time to lift all of my first sowings. They were sown between rows of onions, which appear to have kept off the root fly. As I mentioned in another post, my onions have been very good this year too, despite the weather. My early plantings of brassicas were a disaster as I didn't protect them from pigeons, but the later sowings are all in cages. I won't make that mistake again!

I've been very lucky with my onions. It's beginners luck as it's the first time I've grown them from sets. For some reason I just can't grow Spring onions, I'll keep at it. The silverskin pickling onions i planted after watching your video however are doing brilliantly though in a very large container and I'm really looking forward to refreshing my memory on how to pickle them by watching your excellent cooking channel again and also how to use any green tomatoes for Chutney. All the best, Chris

For strawberry runners I cut 4"-5" lengths of thin Hazel branches, bend/break them carefully in the middle so that they don't break right through to make pegs to push into the ground or the compost in a pot over the stem so that the plants are secured while rooting.

If you put green tomatoes in a box with a ripe apple they will ripen because the apple gives off ethylene gas which ripens the tomatoes

I've been playing catch up through all your previous episodes over the past few of weeks. I have nearly watched them all to gain a basic understanding of gardening. Seems like I have miss a very interesting year in the world of gardening. I have now purchased a 6 x 4 greenhouse (I have a very small garden), staging, lots of caravans bowls, standard bowls & long troughs as well as all the other essentials. I was just aiming to get everything ready to start next year. I'll glad to hear all your suggestions to continue growing through the Autumn and Winter. Its apparently dry and low wind in the Vale of Glam this Friday so I'm going to construct the greenhouse and get started on my sowing. Fingers crossed, I get a few bits and bobs before Christmas. Thanks for all the advise Ivan 🥕🧅🥗 👍

You mentioned you tried CalMag on your tomatoes to ward off blossom end rot. What type did you get? I am worried some of my tomatoes are showing signs again. I finally have some Shirley tomatoes that are beginning to ripen now though, so I am happy.
