The ring is important because Matteo gave it to Luna in season 2, it´s kind of a symbol for them. But if you want to know the specifics, I´m pretty sure I uploaded the scene where he gives her the ring. You can find it in my season 2 playlist, tje scene happens some where around episode 75 of season 2

It's their love symbol. It was the first truly nice thing between them after the breakup. Luna then felt that Matteo still loved her and there was a chance for them to get along. Luna wearing a ring is a sign that she loves Matteo. The ring also had the power to glow whenever Matteo thought of Luna. It's very important for them. Plus, it's actually the only thing (besides Luna's birthday present in the finale. Still the symbols of their love 🙈 ) that Matteo gave her. As Luna herself said it is "OUR ring"
