No Rafi song is easy, though Rafi made it sound easy!!! We should salute Kalyanji and Anandji for giving us such an immortal song!! NO other singer would have done justice to it except Rafi. This boy has sung it at a pitch one notch lower than the original, but has done fair justice. His voice sounds strained. As many bollywood singers have admitted, even if anyone is able to sing well a Rafi song, the speciality of Rafi was the ease with which he sang every song. When Rafi sang a song there was hardly any strain on his face, or any movement of his body or hands, yet he would hit the highest notes with absolute ease and what is more important he would bring the right expression and mood for the song without seeming to make any effort. A part of the credit for this goes to his God-given voice which did everything he wanted it to do. Blessings to this boy. He is a good singer. Since his voice sounds so strained, he could lower his pitch. It is not necessary that everyone should sing at the same pitch. A good pitch, in carnatic music, we say, is one that helps you to move from "ma" in Antharasthayi, to "dha" in thaarasthayi with ease without strain.
