Akhtar Wasi Ali sahib hailed from Mahmudabad. He migrated to Karachi after Partition and performed on the radio, but is really most renowned for his sozkhwani. His wife was the equally famous Kajjan Begum (d. 2000), and his daughter was the excellent singer and sozkhwan Mehnaz Begum. I don't have his exact date of death, but I assume it was in the 1980s-90s. You found this video at a good time - I hope to upload another beautiful recording of Akhtar Wasi Ali in the next few days.
