I've had this peddle for over a year (and it's great). I had no idea about the internal mini switches. Stoked. Earned a sub!
@atonofspiders3 жыл бұрын
I guess you didn’t bother to so much as glance at any of the manuals inside either with super obvious diagrams lol unless you got it without a box, in which case that’s a very neat discovery
@blackfishgaming71453 жыл бұрын
@@atonofspiders I didn’t look at the manual. I’m my pure joy and excitement for a compressed signal, I lost myself for a moment. I’ll work really hard to forgive myself and as to not set myself up for a condescending guy like yourself to point out the obvious. 😘

I don't usually watch demos by players I don't know. However, you have a UK accent, and that changes everything! Seriously though, very nice demo. I just bought this pedal and wanted to see how others are using it. Your video was enlightening on several levels. BTW, nice Suhr, sir. Cheers from Cali.

I’ve literally owned this pedal for years and had never once cracked it open. The switches were ALL out of whack from where I WANT this pedal to be. Needless to say, I cracked it open tonight and good gosh I wish I hadn’t waited. I’ve been playing P-90s and Filtertrons for years now and this just opened up a whole new world of possibility for me (pun intended).

I have SP and Cali76CD ( the best Compressor) The factory default SP settings is good but not the best ! It can be more transparent and better if you switch the second internal button to UP position and the third button to down position ( less atack and more highs ) It will become one of the best Compressors ever !

Best compressor ever made!!! And best design ever ... I hate myself so much for trading this gen for the new TC Electronic Hypergravity compressor... I fell for the hype about a multiband compressor... I could live with using my DAW for that... And get that sweet warm sound from the SP. the TC is just too damn sterile, clean and digital... Not to mention knob latency makes it hard to dial in properly... I'm going to have to buy this compressor again!!! I'm going to have 2 130 dlls comoressors ... :( awww well... That happens when you don't try and listen before you buy... Lesson learned. Xotic SP is the king!
@GuitaristOnWheelsUSA9 жыл бұрын
+Luis Sutil I agree whole-heartedly! I bought the TC Hypergravity too and didn't like what it did to my tone or the initial attack (noticeable "popping"). I'm trying to decide whether to get the Xotic or the JHS Pulp 'n Peel or possibly the Barber Tone Press. The sound/price/size are mighty attractive on this one!
@Subtle-System9 жыл бұрын
+GuitaristOnWheelsUSA yes, tc disappointed there . But SP sounds so freaking sweet

Thanks for this. Excellent review! I'm curious, though, do you find you have a favourite DIP switch setting? Obviously, I'd imagine you wouldn't want to be muckin' about with them during a gig.
@ЙорданУшев-в5э4 жыл бұрын
Can this noise be eliminated in any way without the use of noise gate effects? Because the Noise Gate effects close the noise until the end, and when the tone begins to dampen, the noise is heard with it and no more gentle sound is played. I would be glad if you can help solve this problem.

Nice and good review,thank you. How does the pedal work with an archtop with single coil PU?
@mastertheguitar6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching, glad it was of help. :) I’ve not tried the SP with a single coil archtop but I have used it with my Ibanez AF105NT archtop to add little bit more body and sustain as the stock humbucker pickups need a little help sometimes ;)

Thank you! How did it work out with the Ibanez AF105NT ? Ok? Useable in a musical sense?

Would you use the SP to increase sustain ever so slightly? My (mini) humbuckers don't need more compression than they already got, but I would like just a little more sustain by way of compression. Cheers!
@mastertheguitar7 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely, I do that if I need a little extra when playing my Strat.
@jammer7773 жыл бұрын
Use the low setting and run volume and blend at about 1 o’clock. That works perfect for me for the extra sustain.
@m19uel19966 жыл бұрын
Did you try pushng the hi low mid switch inwards>>>>>
@TomGrubbe7 жыл бұрын
Just bought this pedal and have been testing it out. When using it through an over-driven amp it is extremely noisy when the toggle switch is on High or Mid. Too much for my noise gate to handle. On the Lo setting it's more acceptable but still noisy. This pedal seems much more suited when used with a clean sound rather than overdriven signal. Has anyone else noticed this?
@TomGrubbe7 жыл бұрын
The problem is resolved if I use the compressor in the effects loop of my noise gate (EHX Silencer) which is what that loop is for.
@applemanuk4 жыл бұрын
Is there any noticable difference running this pedal at 18volts rather than 9?
@chickenbites88777 жыл бұрын
Would this be suitable for adding sustain to an already overdriven amp without increasing volume? I was all set for the exotic ep but am mindful of increasing volume levels at home.
@mastertheguitar7 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely, it's how I use the pedal when playing less hi-gain sounds with my Strat. I have a Xotic BB in front of the amp as well as the SP to give it some more sustain when required.
@jammer7773 жыл бұрын
The EP Booster and SP are a great combination. Use both together.
@chb18267 жыл бұрын
hello , I need more sustain can you help about it thanks .
@GreenAsJade9 жыл бұрын
What is your amp? Did I miss you telling us that? It sounds like there's reverb/delay , even though you said no other effects?
@mastertheguitar9 жыл бұрын
+GreenAsJade I used a Victory V30 head running through a Cornford 1x12 loaded with a Vintage 30. There was a little delay on the lead guitar part in the intro music, everything else was dry. There may be a little room sound bleed on the mic I used for voice.

mastertheguitar I really dig the blend feature and keep mine set at about noon before two OD pedals (Xotic BB and a Rockett Flex Drive) then I split the signal going into a GK bass amp and a Peavey Classic 30. I have an older Barber Electronics Tone press parallel compressor which is very similar to the Xotic unit but three times the size. Another always on for my rig is the EP Booster, man can that thing fatten up your tone. Thanks for your videos and insight, I look forward to all of your posts and reviews.
