2024 F150...will a swap like this provide any gaines without a tune?

Why are the adapters needed? Do the bolt holes not line up or does the mustang intake contact something and it needs to be raised up?

Bolt holes do not line up. To get a GT intake to fit without adapters you have to do a lot of trimming and drilling new bolt holes. It is a lot of work. That is why adapters are offered so anyone can do the swap. Not just some with a lot of patience and time to, "get it to fit" and could possible damage the intake manifold modifying it.
