Spa Valley Railway - Scottish Steam Up - Saturday 2nd April 2022

My second visit to the Spa Valley Railway in 2022, and instead of Lancashire, Scotland had seemingly taken over! The railway was hosting Caledonian Railway 812 Class No 828 from the Strathspey Railway for the summer, and so to compliment it, the railway also brought in fellow Caledonian Railway locomotive, 439 Class No 419 from the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway.
To add to the Scottish theme, long term resident Bulleid Pacific No 34053 'Sir Keith Park' smokebox embellishments, including blue number and shed plates.
The weather for the day was dry throughout, with blue skies for the most part, but with the added complication of cloud! Mostly appearing at the worst moments!

4:11, No. 828 (the real-life Donald and Douglas) with the 'Hunslet' Tender Engine No. 2890 (the lookalike Douglas)! :O What an amazing double-header! :) :O

The steam engines are sadly due to run out of coal, before Summertime comes it seems. They can't run without coal and I know you'll be upset that stinky diesels and DMUs will be the only motive power left to our preserved railways. An upsetting end for us who love steam engines more than anything else.

You do realise that coal is not the only thing that steam engines can use right? Steam locomotives can use things like wood to power them
