Space: 1999 - 44" Studio Scale Eagle Build - Part 1

My Walmart had a bunch of the MPC 1/48 22" Eagle 2 Laboratory Pod kits. They were originally $179.99 but they didn't sell. So I waited & waited & they finally put them on clearance for $20. I picked up 4. That's $720 worth of kits for $80. 👍😁 I always wanted an Eagle. When I was a kid in the late 70s I never caught the original Star Trek or Space 1999 on TV. And I missed the huge Mattel Eagle toy. I always wanted the Eagle & now at 51 years old I finally have -one- four.

Wow, that's quite a haul! You certainly got a massive bargain there! Nicely done!

I received Pack 1 from Cosmos recently. Will be watching your progress eagerly. My set seems to differ from yours in some areas, as I have more parts from what I see here. And a lot of clean up needed on the resin. I bought a Chris Trice nosecone years ago but it's buried in storage somewhere!

More parts? Interesting... Though Stephen at Cosmos did indicate recently that the group were discussing sending some completed advance parts of set two that are being worked on, so maybe that's what you got?

@@ModelbaseAlpha Don’t think I got a set 2. That may be a ways off yet. I had some resin sensor dishes for the nose cone included with mine.

I had a look at thier facebook page, but it’s empty. Don’t MPC make a studio scale Eagle?

You are right... Interesting, there WAS some content, at least until very recently, not sure what happened to it! The largest Eagles MPC make are 1:48 scale, around 22 inches long, so they're about half studio scale. Well worth a look if you have the space (no pun intended)

@@ModelbaseAlpha haha I have space on the brain, so I’m sure I’ll find some. I’m working on the Fanhome Millennium Falcon at the moment. It’ll be about a meter long when finished. I’ll link you some photos when I’m done.
