I've been running the Ruike 108-SF for a few months now. Same steel, frame material, and "Beta Lock" in a slimmer, lighter design. I love the heck out of it.

I have 7 Ruike knives. I think they are the best value/$$ on the market today. They have raised the bar for"budget" blades. I do not own this blade, however. I have the P-128 which is very,very similar to the P-135. X-cellent knives all.

I got the P801 a while back based on GT's review, and I loved it so much I bought a 2nd as a backup. I also don't see much reason to spend $50 ($20 more than the 801) to get another knife which looks to me to be slightly inferior in many ways. For the money, the Ruike P801 is by far the best pocket knife I've ever owned (and I own at least 20 and have lost or destroyed another dozen over the years). It is one my my 3 primary EDC knives, and the other two each cost over $100!

#MailBag Hey Aaron, in your opinion how do you feel about the saturation of products in the gear community? Positive or Negative? Some may argue that the commercialized "You HAVE to buy this to do ____ " mentality spoils the pure and freeing idea of simply enjoying being outside. Can you have too much variety? Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks.

That's the exact folder I took out last wknd for a two nighter. It excelled in all but edge retention but easy as P$$s to sharpen. I like it so much I bought 5 about 6 months ago as collectors. I think I've bought about 45ish Ruikes now. I just see them accruing value down the line as they are one of the companies that are ahead of the pack in terms of value, steel choice and finish, no play up down sideways ever (out of my 45 Ruikes....literally no play in any of them and smooth opening on all of them). etc.

I have the p128, it's amost the same knife, a little different blade shape but close n it only cost me $34. Riuke NEVER disappoints. Have had it for almost 1 year and only had to sharpen it ONCE; I keep it razor sharp by touching it up on a ceramic rod n occasionally a strip. The 14c28n is FANTASTIC and I just DON'T understand why other companies arent using it. I now only buy 14c28n or d2 for my inexpensive knives, no more mov for me. Aaron just said it while I was writing it. This IS a superior steel. Especially Kershaw; they are the ones that had the 14c28n developed and are too stupid to use it, they just use that MOV Crap, I won't buy the Squid (kershaw or crkt?) unless it is released it in the 14c28n. I just don't get it. Thanks A for another great vid.

Too bad the 14c28n wasn't heat-treated from 60 to 62 hrc that's where you unlock the full potencial of 14c28n without any adverse effects. 63 hrc is the point of diminishing returns and the beginning of adverse effects for 14c28n. Still a awesome buy👍👍👍!

I have a Real Steel with a stainless /G10 body. The milling on the steel body will trap LOTs of dirt. I've been EDCing for 8 months and and have to clean it out. Another function of the Beta -lock to prevent over extension of the locking bar. You can push the locking bar all the way, and it will not 'over bent'. Like you, I also ask myself about getting USA branded knife with AUS8, 8CrMov and 420HC blades for that price.

Great review. You mention that you'd like to see more companies use bearings as compared to washers, I have not found a knife yet that uses bearings that keeps the grit and debris out of the action like those with washers (And I have used many). Have you had the same experience with folding knives that use bearings getting debris in them more than the knives with washers?

The Chinese spinner widgets had ballbearings also but when they got wet, they rusted like the tin man. I can guarantee you these are the cheapest rust prone bearings you can have on a knife! For me, save your 50 on a better knife

Really impressed with this knife. Great honest review as always. Other than weight and clip not setup for lefties this knife fits the bill for a SUK knife. #Mailbag: I am researching Get Home Bags. It should be like this: Long time well reputable OEM Chinese knife maker Sanrenmu owns Fenix Lights and some time ago they started RUIKE to make medium to large folding knives with all the expertise they gathered in the years they produced rather smaller folders and also knives for well known brands like spyderco they bring to the market a excellent product line with a great price ! I suggest check out their new model Sanrenmu 9015 it should cost around 27$

@brianf96196 жыл бұрын
The reason all these Chinese budget knives have ball bearings is because the tolerances don't have to be as precise as they do when using phosphorus bronze washers , so they just throw these bearings in every knife , tork down the pivot , and call it good . So in reality , your getting a lot better tolerances when the knife can drop shut when its using washers . Also , for hard use , ball bearings create a no no , if you drop that knife in the dirt and a single grain of dirt gets in that ball bearing pivot , it's all done , the pivot will sound and feel like it has a pound of dirt in it . I have a few of these BB pivot knives , and there wicked fun to play with , but they have there place , that's all I'm saying.
@davidtate1666 жыл бұрын
Wellbuild blade.its shines.
@0neTwo36 жыл бұрын
I disagree with your opinion on bearing pivots... Bronze bushings are superior IF the tolerances are correct. Bushings don’t have space to allow dust into the mechanism and are much better for hard use because the contact surface area is larger for load dispersal. Bearings to me are a sign that a knife is not for hard use.
