I'm heavily into feng shui, and it seems that the concepts posted here mostly agree with feng shui. The center of the home should, in general, be clear of clutter. In feng shui, a home with a center area that is occupied by a column, wall, fireplace, etc, tends to drain the energy of the recipients of the home. Moving water and fire are also not recommended for the center area. Although in feng shui, sometimes still water that is in a bowl (or salt water cure) for certain bad flying stars is sometimes used. I used a 6 tube hollow wind chime in my dad's house to help as well too, and it seemed to work in his case. Although there are certain flying star combinations that are not good to use with wind chimes.

I'm not an expert in Vastu Shastra, but in feng shui, the center of a building is generally the center of the air mass of a building. Chi sort of acts like plasma (electrified gas) or even fog. Where the chi tends to concentrate towards the floor, but is also attracted towards conductive materials, such as metal and to a lesser extent water, salt water, etc. And also in feng shui, each room also has a center of mass as well and in large buildings (like office buildings), the chi of each room is strong enough where you also have to pay attention to each room as well as the whole building. Most feng shui books take the blueprints of a building looking top down and then use this method to try to figure out where the 'center' is. The size of the central area in feng shui (not Vastu Shatra) tends to be relatively small. in my condo, it is roughly maybe 2-3 feet across as a guess. I suspect that this size is not entirely fixed and can change if there is more chi in the building, and can also shrink as well. The effects of the center area sort of acts like a 'sun', though, where it might stop at 2-3 feet.. but the effects of the center area also radiate outwards towards the rest of the home.

@@loiplu my question is specific to flats in building, where area of a house is not in any particular shape like square or rectangle. It is more like passageway with rooms on both sides. How to find the centre to a place like this???

@@puneetbasson5901 I would have to see a top down picture or an example on the internet to know what you are talking about to be sure. But if you are talking about a situation like a hotel, where there are units or rooms inside a larger structure, then each unit can be considered it's own 'house'. And you would find the center of each unit to find the center place. The whole entire building of course has its own center area and that also affects every resident in the building as well. I live in a high rise condo myself and live in a similar situation, and the chi of each unit is strong enough so that you have to look at the center of each condo to find the center for your 'unit'.
